What made Elam such a hot recruit was the exact opposite of what your saying. Elam has great mobility and flexibility for a 360 pound man. He was out of shape but you don't get the offers he had having no mobility.Elam just has no mobility. He's a big guy without a doubt but by the time he gets off the line, the play is 5 yards up field. I like the guy but I wonder what his limits are as far as having any ability to be effective on a consistent basis.

I agree with you but it's not out of the question for him to improve his pass rush. He will never get multiple sacks and tfl but there is no reason as his conditioning improves so will his push up front.I feel like some people expect his role to be that of a pass rushing role. That's not what it is, that's not what it's ever going to be. He's a space eater.
Good observations. I feel pretty good about our receivers, running backs, and secondary, but every other position is in a state of uncertainty. Every position you mentioned is in transition. Developing an effective quarterback who can lead and sustain drives is the most important challenge facing our coaches. A big part of the quarterback's success depends on the offensive tackles, and we have a lot of work to do there this spring. Losing linebackers Forrest, Flannigan, Henderson, Johnson, and Hatcher is a big blow to the defense. I am optimistic about Courtney Love, but our edge linebackers must prove themselves. It will help if Elam and Pringle can occupy blockers without giving ground.Don't know about players individually but qb, MLB, olb, ot, and NT are the spots I'm thinking tells the tale on our season.

Yea and he's had basically 1 full season of conditioning. How long do you give a player that's only played 2 years? He is going against top 10 nfl draft picks as a frosh and sophomore and more than holding his own. So you think he should have been more than a starter as a sophomore? I'm sorry your dissapointed In him I am not. The kid has lost 40 pounds since he has been on campus not an easy task while your packing on muscle.Jesus the man has been on campus for 2 years, how long do we give him to get in shape? For all the hype, he just hasn't made the kind of impact I was expecting and part of that is due to his conditioning and ability to move his feet. A passrusher? No, he needs to be alot more effective on the dline.
