My man. 😁 $2 million and Grinch stays and finishes what he started. I'm jumpin the gun here slightly, he's still got alot to prove. I do like what I'm seeing from Grinch so far and am optimistic he's really close to providing the dominant defenses that brought trophies home.

$2M for the right defensive coordinator isn’t excessive when your head coach is the OC. Just saying.

Good post....and I believe CFB is no longer about having "shut-down" defenses anymore. What now wins championships are defenses that can contain opponents' offenses.
It's sad to believe that OU might have won at least two championships during the Mayfield-Murray era had the defense just been average. But that's history now and Riley learned from it this past season as revealed after the Iowa State loss.

Lay the Woody probably doesn't know that Saban is on record saying that in modern times offense is more important than defense, but we'll ignore that for now

Saban said "Good defense doesn't beat good offense anymore" but looking at Saban's Alabama resume, he clearly believes defense is equally important, especially in this age of high scoring, arena-style football.

What record did you listen to? Find the right one and listen closely. You'll get a better feel of what he meant, heck, just watch his defenses. This is the better way of understanding his perspective. His offenses are really really good but it's his defenses that control and decide games outcome. Imo. 😁

Riley doesn't give a **** about defense, it's obvious. Grinch is forcing it.

I hope the following comment is correct.."Put down the liquor." If not, you clearly do not know jack sh#t about LR and the current OU football program.

The hiring of Grinch indicates that Riley clearly wants to improve the defense. That probably came very clear after OU's 48-45 loss to Texas in 2018 as Mike Stoops was fired following the game.
To say that Riley isn't concerned about defense now is BS.

Yeah, after rereading my post, it didn't come out the way I had intended. I'll own it, clearly a ridiculous post. Liquor had alot to do with this as well as the emotional scars Mikes Stoops imposed on me. 😁 Riley definitely addressed OUr defensive issues by bringing on Grinch, things are progressing nicely. I'm just anxious for results, really really anxious.

That's reasonable.

Would you settle for the best defense in the Big XII next year? Knocking on the door top ten nationally? I think that's where we'll be. Even with Perkins leaving. Grinch has got it going man. I'm telling you. These kids are getting better each week.
