It was during a stretch of “big misses” that the pitchforks came out. And by big misses I mean “primary” targets.

This was really a matter of not missing, just shooting very high, without a ton of winning behind RU. Even the 2022 class, which is typically committed by June 2021, was coming off a season where RU would have made the NCAAs in 2020 and made the NCAAs in 2021. But 2022 recruiting was pretty much done for a good amount of kids, who kinda knew what they wanted, coming off the covid shutdown.

Once we were able to recruit off the 2021-22 season, the 2023 class and targeted players was much higher (Papa Kante, Gavin Griffiths etc). We didn't have to really do much in HS for that class, instead we cleaned up in the portal (Austin Williams, Jeremiah Williams).

With 2024 recruiting, we landed Ace Bailey in January 2023....that's how far back you have to be to land kids.....mix in Dylan Harper, Dortch and Sommerville and this is the true 1st 12 months off of 2 consecutive years of NCAA caliber teams.
