with new bowls 80 teams will go. Some one will go with losing records. I am ashamed enough for teams to go at 6-6 much less 5-7. It is becoming like little league where everyone gets a trophy. Of course we can't beat Vandy so we won't be going any where but to Rupp to watch a real coach and a real team.

So if uk stalls at five wins and bowl committees invite them to play in a bowl game should you turn it down and not get the extra spring practice that is involved?

Heck no! You look to fill those spots that need 5-7 teams. You call everyone who might have an inkling of pull to get you there. Will it appease to the fans? No, but who cares this team needs all the help it can get to develope players. Those 20 extra practices are huge!

In theory, yes. But the same coaches who've coached the players for all the practices in 3 seasons are the same ones who'll be coaching them for the 20 extra practices so it might do more harm than good. IMO.

Yep. Touting a 6 win season only entrenches the culture of mediocrity here.
I don't think the word "tout" is appropriate. We should appreciate a rise in production to 6 wins. What we shouldn't do is accept 6 wins as an acceptable season every year. When going from the bottom, one stop is likely to be 6 wins. Not celebrating improvement is foolish.
