I give it a C-

Would be a C+ or even a B if we didn't lose the USM game. But a C- is pretty good for how we started out.

It's a C/C-. It has looked like KY football to me.

I still think we are in better shape had the SMU/NMSU games been flipped on the schedule.

C- (I am still not happy about USM collapse, FLA no show, and NMSU follies)

Pretty much. Season could still go anywhere from a B+ (win next two, plus Peay, plus a win in any other game, including a bowl, to finish 7-6) to an F (lose them all save Peay)

D+ but has potential to get up to a C+.

With the way this team is set up I expected inconsistencies. I expected to look great one moment and poor the next. I expected to be blown out a time or two.....as I expected to blow out a few. I expected a bowl game....with 6-7 wins.

I did not expect NMSU to come from way behind. I expected our talent and coaching to not allow this. Maybe let them hang around before putting them away, sure, but not blow a lead. I didn't expect the rest of the SEC to be as poor. If we make a bowl game it will be in part due to our improved play but also because Vandy, Missouri, and MSU are so poor.

D - Losing to USM, giving up 35 in the first half to NMST, getting destroyed by an average Florida team, and squeaking by mediocre South Carolina and Vanderbilt teams.

D+ to C- it is a shame that the first game of the year did as much damage as it did but there is no other way to put if because of how it unfolded.

We can help the grade Saturday night because a win over an SEC foe (no matter who it is) counts more than an OOC loss.

Solid D. Losing to USM has put a major damper on a bowl bid. If they can get a signature win, beat MSU and AP then it will be a solid C on the season. Win 3 more SEC games then a B. If they get 3 more SEC wins, beat UL and AP then I'll give them an A. That's a fair rubric I think. Anything lower than C is failure and change required

C.. just simply a C. i can see many signs of positivity. D is better, if we had a QB i think offense could be very good. but those first 2 games are just bad. but like i said at the time, the season will write itself. im excited for the rest of it.

C-

USM and Florida were awful. NMSU was bad.

Bama - we played as well as we could defensively, regardless of the Tide's effort.

USC and Vandy - we definitley improved, not sure how good those teams actually were at the time. With Vandy beating UGA that win looks much better.

South Carolina has been reasonably competitive with everybody,Southern Miss has been the real question mark and to a lesser extent NMst(since we did win)

This thread is crying out for a poll to go with it. I would grade the Cats a C- at the midterm. A D- for the first three games, and a B- for the last three.

USM and Florida drag down the midterm score to a D. Both were F. NMS was a D, Bama a D+ and USC and Vandy B- There is room for improvement the second semester

I'll go game by game....

USM was a definite F.
UF was an F. Don't think they even made it off the bus.
NMSU was a D. We got the W so it's not a failure but not enough to pass.
USC was a B. Defense looked good and O didn't hurt the D too much. Definite passing grade.
Bama I'm giving a C. Played better than anyone thought we would especially on D. If we score on the batted down pass to Conrad we would have had tremendous momentum. Not saying it would have equated to a W but we could have put some pressure on Bama and maybe forced some mistakes. Could have gotten a lot closer but still played well against the overwhelming #1 team in the country.
Vandy was a B. Defense played good again and offense didn't do anything to throw the game away. Passing grade.

So goin game by game then averaging them out looks like a C- to D+.

C. At the beginning of the year, the question was between four schools...Kentucky, Vanderbilt, South Carolina and Missouri. Any of those teams had a shot at bowl eligibility by sweeping the other three. Kentucky has completed two legs of that. The Southern Miss Collapse could prove catastrophic unless these improved Cats can pull a win that early on was doubtful. Mississippi State is a physical team with a real hard edge, but is off kilter. Georgia should have never, ever lost to Tennessee....and had that game in the box.....but is now reeling with a lot of questions....kinda like We let Mark Richt go for this? Both could be winnable....but it's a thin edge, especially since all of a sudden the Cats are counting on the same defense that got torpedoed for the first three games to carry them while the offense tries to figure out how to score.

Hold on to your hats...this is gonna be a bumpy ride.

C for me also. Very average team that plays another average team Saturday. If we lose that one, my grade will drop to a D.

We haven't actually looked good in any game this season. We've beat (barely) two pitiful teams in conference and looked horrible in a win against NMSU.

The Florida game was a joke and S. Miss game was a tragedy. Most seem to be hanging their hats on a 4 touchdown defeat against an uninspired Alabama team.

I'm giving it a D+ at this point and won't factor Austin Peay into the equation moving forward.

(4-8) F

(5-7) D regardless of who those next two wins are against.

(6-6) C- if we just win the next two against the other conference garbage and AP.

(7-5) B- if we do the above and beat Georgia.

(8-4) A- because we will have beat UT or UL or both if we dropped any of the games with MSU, Mizzouri or Georgia.

(9-3) A because we would have won out and been in the SEC title game but still would have lost that game against S Miss.

You people realize Southern Miss likely to be a bowl team correct??

That doesn't change the fact we blew a huge lead and looked inept in the 2nd half. C for me. Gotten some breaks to beat USCjr and Vandy, the defense has improved. Mid Term is Saturday.

You do know the staff didnt change the play calling signals and Dawson picked up on it right (meaning they used the same signals from when Dawson worked here)? Thats the main reason we lost, they knew every play. Thats bush league amateur hour stuff.

I give it a C-

Still has potential, but that Southern Miss mess up is inexcusable.

I would go C+ just by the way they bounced back off of the horrific start. For the first time in a while the team looks better as the season progresses. Stoops has made some adjustments to the defense and they look 10x better. Cant stress enough the improtance of tomorrow nights game. Win that and the season has B+ - A+ potential. Loss and you are looking at a D or F. With a win I would give us a 90% bowling but a with a loss i give us maybe 10% chance of bowling.
