Hey Grumpy, I have a question. Does Georgia have The Class System for HS football? Are all the schools in Atlanta the highest class.

First question, yes Georgia has the class system 6 classifications but the smallest classification, class A, is seperated into public and private schools for football and basketball, but don't think they are for the other sports. That has only been done the last 3 years and I been retired a good bit longer than that. No, not all schools in Atlanta are in the highest classification, most are in the two largest. The largest classification is mostly in the metro Atlanta area made up of about 7 counties with one region mostly alone I-75 in south Georgia. Over the last 10 years Buford has been the best program in the state, was 2A at the beginning of that, but numbers have pushed them into 4A, and they have whined and complained every time they have had to move up. They have 2 separate stadiums with field turf, a jr varsity stadium and varsity stadium. Their feeling is you have the earn the right to step foot on the varsity field. Their weight complex is damn near on the SEC level and probably tops many P5 schools and all non P5 schools. They also recruit better than most. Most years they are the best team in the state regardless of classification, or have been 5 of the last 10 years.

Sounds counterproductive imo. As others point out, leaves very little time for anything else. And tempo is only effective if you can actually get first downs. We tried tempo last few years too and it doesnt work with 3 and outs.
