They might be as bad on special teams as we have been too. The kicker missed 2 fgs and an extra pt vs colorado...

The dline looks to put pressure with the front 4 most of the time and love to stunt and bring pressure up the middle so if our oline can pick it up or AM can get out of the pocket it could mean big plays.

I like our matchup.. we need to get pressure with our front 4 and force Morgan to throw on the run.. Bell is a good wr and they have the opposite wr who is pretty tall and athletic.. tries to get 1 on 1s with 50/50 balls but i think our cover corners need to be good again while in man.. should be a good one

What concerns me about this game is time of possession, regardless if we win or lose I would bet Minnesota has the advantage. That leads me to believe that we will need a few big plays in the passing game to win this one. I doubt we have much success running the ball on Minnesota either.

Did you hear that they're out their top 2 running backs? How are they going to control the TOP?

They'll win the TOP battle cause Adrian is gonna rain bombs all day for 1:30 scoring drives.

I am aware of that, but based on how badly they have gashed us with the run game in the past I wouldn’t completely rule it out. Their offensive line has some real hogs on it that can create running lanes,I think some are underestimating their ability to run the ball against us. Also, remember last year when they let the play clock rundown to the last second before snapping the ball? Believe me they will find a way to shorten up this game.

Hopefully they will be playing from behind most of the game.. hard to milk the clock when you do that

Did anyone watch Jeremiah Serlis and his tape review? It was good.

Minnesota is massive up front, not just big. They run a 7 man line most of the time and keep a WR in tight as well, like a WB. He showed how they run their inside and outside zone/trap plays. The one thing we will not be able to handle is those big guys getting up field onto our LB's. We have relatively small MLB's and they guys just pave a space. It will be interesting to see what Chins comes up with because that 7 man front really spreads you out on D and gets you isolated and creates natural seams especially if you can get to the second level.

Regardless of the RB's they will have available, we have not shown the ability to slow down their running game. They seem to have our number, regardless. Chins has to come up with something different, it may be a little more mass up front.

Another area I have long been concerned with is the running QB and the fact we don't often account for them and tend to leave the middle of the field wide open. This is especially true when teams spread us out. We like the twin safety look with over under coverage on the outside but it is at a price. I really think you MAY see more one on one coverage from our secondary with a beefed up backer crew with help in the middle for the QB run. Just have to keep those big dudes from the Minny line off of them.

As stated above, getting a fast and consistent start to scoring will dictate what they can do. They are patient, they could be down 3 scores and still keep plugging along with their same plan, they don't tend to panic much.

That OL is exactly why I believe they will not struggle to run the ball as much as some think. I hope Chins stacks the box and allows are CBs to man up, forget that soft zone coverage for once.

They had 125 rushing yards against Purdue. Our defense is a little better.

this is good insight, but what they’ve been able to do against us in the past doesn’t translate to now in my opinion. We look like a different defense than we have in the past. And Tanner Morgan simply does not run this year. I’ve been to every home game, and he handed off 99% of the time. Now, this game will probably be the exception, and I will have egg on my face. But I just don’t see them running The ball with great success against our defense this year.

I hope you are correct. It seemed me like our D showed some kinks against Michigan. What did they have, one guy over 150 yards and another just under 70? And when they put in the running QB, he did well each time. We also got burned, as Chins Ds in the past have, with the TE delay over the middle. Watching the highlights from last year was depressing. This Minny line is a different animal than we have seen this year so we will see how well we match up.

Yep, good points again. I do appreciate how you break it down. I’m not an X’s and O’s Guy, so to have it broken down helps. And yea, Michigan got their yards. But the threat of the pass was very real as well. I haven’t seen minnesota with that same threat this year. Morgan is not 2019 Morgan. And he better not return to 2019 Morgan tomorrow. I hope I am not jinxing things.

I started looking at Minnesota for similarities, constants, etc. and the one constant throughout the last 3 years and this year's current games played (2018 - 2021) is Tanner Morgan. No big deal right? Who cares? Tanner Morgan has been sacked 62 times thus far in his career. However, in three games against Nebraska (2018, 2019, 2020): zero sacks. He has a total of NEGATIVE 21 (-21) rushing yards in his career but has run for 49 yards against Nebraska.

Morgan has a 61% pass completion percentage (60.8% for those that are OCD). Morgan's pass completion percentage is against Nebraska is an eve 61%. Minnesota has a few wide receivers that are productive and could be dangerous. Chris Autman-Bell will be back for his 4th straight game but his numbers haven't been eye popping over the last 3. The tight ends haven't done much so far.

On Saturday Minnesota will be down to their 3rd and 4th string running backs - both freshmen. There isn't much after those two.

What does all of this mean? I don't believe Minnesota will be scoring a lot of points on Saturday. They have scored 14 and 20 points offensively (17 point average) in their last two games and I'm going with 10 to 13 against Nebraska. Nebraska will guard the perimeters and force Morgan to throw. Minnesota's defense has been OK this year but who have they played outside of Ohio St that is better than average offensively? Minnesota will try to grind it out, control the clock and hope their defense creates opportunities and force Nebraska into special teams mistakes.

I believe Nebraska's offense will roll but not quite like Northwestern. So, my non-******** (constantly joking) preiction is for the good guys.

Nebraska 27
Minnesota 13
Gotta make him throw it outside the hashes. He loves his quick slants and he is good at it. Don’t know how many times he did that against us They will certainly have some new concepts with the extra week.

Nebraska have a unique knack of making mediocre players look like all conference there’s that.

Our corners/safeties can’t cover man to man. Too slow.

I have zero issue leaning on our front 7 to get stops. They’ve done it all year & minn stinks.
