at least from the 757 perspective. Not many saw Norview coming while Salem, despite a minus of one of its stars and a very questionable loss, was considered a favorite in the beginning. Guess the 804 or Tuscarora has the title on lock!

Honestly no on from the 757 is the favorite in 5a and people knew this from the beginning. Norview is a great story for the city of Norfolk, but 5a in the Richmond area is LOADED and whoever won down here would basically be sacrificial lamb in the state semifinals except for Salem. Now with that being said Salem is injured and playing without its top player, and so their chances are now looking slimmer even though Coach Jackson does a great job with the guys. I think most people looking at the 5a picture has it as Richmond winner vs. Northern champ of the title.

If Salem plays like they did against Bird last year, then I won't write them off. Should have won. Should have had a shut out.

They had an awesome scheme on defense and managed to take away EVERYTHING the Skyhawks did.

I think 5A is very exciting right now.

I would make the odds something like this is I worked in Vegas and we took bets on VHSL games:

4:1 Hermitage
5:1 L.C. Bird
5:1 Tuscarora
9:1 Massaponax
9:1 Stone Bridge
10:1 Salem
13:1 Broad Run
16:1 Norview

I do think the winner of Bird vs. Hermitage is favorite, but they both have their odds a little higher due to having to face one another first.
