I genuinely believe that the 3 best teams in the country are Duke, Gonzaga, and Alabama, and we got all 3 of them. This might be the toughest schedule we have ever had but I'm excited for the journey.
Pope understood the assignment. He's building for the future. Kids WANT to play in tough environments. Cal didn't understand the assignment, ever.

Combo of Zags really good and Baylor not being built great from a roster standpoint.

Gonzaga sneakily adds and retains talent every year that aren’t NBA guys so people forget about them.

Hickman, Nembhard, Gregg, Huff, Ike, Stromer, Battle, and Ajayi is a super core. That’s 5 former top 100 recruits that have all been in the program multiple years with super solid transfers as well.

The schedule is loaded this year. But Coach Pope has put together a remarkable roster and team. Losing 7 or 8 games with a schedule like this is perfectly, understandably expected .... And that's why most people think Kentucky will lose, 9,10,11 or more games by the time it's all said and done this year.

I simply don't buy it.

This is a veteran team that has great handles, unselfish to the Nth degree, very smart and not afraid to step on the court with anyone. They are going to win a lot of games and win against some of the best teams on the schedule this year. Book it!

Let the rest of the country sleep on Kentucky. For now, we can quietly sit back and watch this wonderful journey progress .... We are rejuvenated !

Go Big Blue !

UK teams over the last 15 years have blown out their early season opponents only to see garbage follow. They've also lost to early season opponents only to see garbage follow. The truth is, we never knew what we were going to have even going into January because of Cal's wacked-*** coaching "plan".

This Zags/Baylor game really tells us nothing. I watched about 10 minutes and it was just run and gun with very little defense. Almost like an exhibition/scrimmage. Hence the high score for both teams.

When either of these teams face a defense that is actually trying to play defense instead of engaging in an NBA all-star shootout, then we'll be able to know more about both. Same with our guys - we'll know a LOT more about them after next Tuesday, then again against Gonzaga, and of course the rest of the schedule.

I do believe people are over-hyping Bama, though. I like our chances as they will again live and die (most likely and most frequently die) with the three.

Something about duke doesn’t impress me much. I agree with the other two though..

Watched entire game Zags are that good, Baylor athletic but young not great shooters and undisciplined most of the night. Baylor was down 22 at half made a run to cut it briefly to 12 then got taken to the woodshed. Crowd was rowdy and loud.

But one did. Saying Baylor didn’t deserve that ranking?
If that rankings said “Kentucky Wildcats” we would drop 10 spots, minimum. If I were voting they would be out of my top 25 entirely until they proved otherwise.

Every year people expect Gonzaga to fall off and every year…..they don’t lol.
They weren't great last year. I'll hold my breath on them. I expect them to be decent though.

This is kinda a marking year for Few. Can he finally win one? If he doesn't this year, not sure I think he ever can.

I think the Zags are the second best team in the country behind Duke.
For Duke to be the #1 team Knueppell has the Robin to Flagg's Batman like Keels was with Banchero.
The Duke backcourt is solid but not spectacular.
If Kon plays himself into the lottery, Duke is a legit contender.

They’re loaded. Scheyer will have a lot pressure on him this year.

Credit to Gonzaga, they do look really damn good after that beat down last night. No excuse for Baylor to not have a snowball's chance in hell last night, especially with a dynamic player like VJ Edgecombe on the court.

Since we play the zags this year seems relevant. Also looking really lucky Drew declined our offer right about now...
They ran them off the court. The Zags looked great and Baylor looked like a bunch of athletes that didn’t know how to play together. They also can’t shoot at least that game. VJ Edgecomb has a nasty poster dunk but that was about it. Honestly it reminded me of early Calipari games.

Either Zags are insanely good (don't buy that) or Baylor suuuuucks (not sure I buy that either)
Zags are really good make no mistake. Time to start giving Few his credit. A couple final 4’s and a national runner up and 9 consecutive sweet 16’s is no joke.

Pope understood the assignment. He's building for the future. Kids WANT to play in tough environments. Cal didn't understand the assignment, ever.
This is still Cals schedule.... Pope hasn't scheduled one game. One game is decided by the champions classic, the other by the conference, the last was a 6 year deal to play the zags that Cal put together. Scheduling is done years in advance.

I didn't say that Pope scheduled any games.

Your reply to us playing those 3 teams was that Pope understood the assignment as if he had anything to do with us playing those games, and that Cal didn't understand that when he is the one who had a hand in 2 of the 3 games mentioned. We all hate Cal, but your comment just logically didn't make any sense. You never said those words but that's what people extrapolate from what you said. It's either that's what they get from it, or they have know idea what you're talking about.

I'm fairly sure Pope will get us out of the CC type events and schedule more home and homes since that's how it was when he played. I also believe he'll get us back into Maui(FINALLY!!! Cal pissed me off with not wanting to be in it or others such as the PK80, I'm looking forward to the schedules in a few years with Pope spearheading it)
