Please say that louder. It's hilarious that people believe because of larger Admins, it automatically equates to W's in comparison to teams with lower admins. The largest schools in Charlotte, are not the best teams in charlotte. Myers Park, South Meck, Ardrey Kell. Myers Park was competitive for a couple of years, but we all know what they were doing.

I think four classes may be the answer but look doing 2A/3A or 1A/4A as having about 30% more schools and subdivide for all team sports and that does not include wrestling, track, tennis, golf, et al.

AZ does an interesting thing where they create a state playoff that consists of the "best teams" from different classifications. These teams only participate in this tournament and it crowns the only State champion. The classifications have a playoff and have Classification winners but they are not considered state champions.
My question is how many split conferences will 7 classifications create??? I think if NC goes to 5 A you can limit split conferences . 7 I would venture to guess would create a **** ton of split conferences which really no one wants. Now if you go to 32 teams in each classification you would have 224 teams make the playoffs. I can see many 3-7 teams getting in. If you go to 16 in each to 112 now you may have a quality 7-3 sitting out. So how many is too many and how many is too little

Really think the answer is align all non football sports year one and then year 3 align football.
Football could have four classifications. At the end of the season have 192 teams qualify for the playoffs. Then list them by ADM 1-192. Largest 32 are D1, smallest 32 are D6. A school may win their 1A conference but they would play with like size schools in the playoffs.
Football is different. Teams can travel farther on a Friday night and to an extent on Thursday for JV plus they play less games. Coming down the moutain at 10:30 on Friday night in October is not the same as a Tuesday night in February.
How do these school stack up in non football sports? Do they have a advantage vs schools with 1600 in lets say Girls basktball?
Many of the country club and women's sports seem to come from schools in a financially strong area. Providence is about 2,200 students but has always done very well in those. ADM matters but is not the only thing that determines successful sports programs.

If there are split conferences the whole concept of winning your classification even though you finish lower than first bs needs to end.
If there is a 1A/2A split and a 1A school finishes third behind two 2A schools should they not be considered the 1A conference champion?
When is the NCHSAA going to get on board. You know someone will take it to court if they don’t.

Yes. Win your conference. I thought maybe it is ok for the lower conference but people all over here claim that adm doesn't really matter etc... To me it only muddies the water. Should they make the playoffs? Sure as a representative of their conference but not as a conference champion.
I think all conference champions should qualify. They are then put in the mix and the teams are seeded by a power system. The caveat would be there must be at least three teams from the that team's classification in the conference. IF not the "champion" has to qualify by their power rating.
Guys, I think you may be looking at this in the wrong approach. If they go to a 7 classification system, the classes will be split into districts instead of conferences. So basically like a West, Midwest, Mideast, and East District. You would have to probably play 5 teams in your district (any 5 more than likely) and 5 non-district games. Playoffs would be something like 8 teams from each district qualify (top half of your district) to make the playoffs. #8 from the West would play #1 from Midwest in round one and so on.
For the schools to provide a vote there will need to be draft of each option made available.

Use this as a reference. TN has 6 classes. NC has more schools than TN playing football. Not all sports need 6 classes. This link breaks down how all sports are done in TN.
Five classes. NC and SC start and finish the same week. Following week at Panther Stadium NC v SC in each class.

Look give me a few coaching buddies some adult beverages and a hoagie from sheetz and we could come up with quality conferences. If NC goes to 5A(that would be around 84 teams per classification) you would reduce the number split conferences to one in 5A and 4 A . Now you still have some numbers that dont match up exactly but with the new schools being built in Charlotte and Raleigh that will change. If you go 6A or even 7A you will have a ton of split conferences and pretty much Charlotte vs Raleigh in the playoffs with the exception of a few triad teams. So what does NC want? Better conferences that are aligned better as numbers go or exact numbers as far as schools go? So we will see
Wonder if 1A would consist mainly of Charters, Academy schools.. then 2A would be what is now 1A schools..300-500. Then work their way up.
Idk that we will see "conferences" anymore with the new plan. I think it goes to region play like they do in TN or VA.
