There are a decent amount of good matchups in the 2nd round. Normal community vs Kenwood, Brother Rice vs Batavia, East St Louis vs St Patrick, Hersey vs Glenbard West, and Downers Grove North vs St Rita. You could even say all the 7A second round matchups are good. I have a feeling there would be at least 1 upset

DGN much better than BG. Was a bit surprised at the lack of dominance in that game
Rita is a meat and potato old school team. They aren't going to blow many teams away unless their is a significant talent difference. They mainly grind the ball down the field. They don't have a lot of X factors on offense, but they got enough. They just kinda wear teams down.

I don't know much about DGN at all. I thought it was going to be a rebuild year so good on them, they built a good program that's been contending every year.

For sure. Both DGN and SR had bye weeks, so there's a little rust. However, DGN definitely had the weaker opponent in West Chicago (deservingly so). BG would honestly beat West Chicago by 40 points. Maybe Hersey and Prospect are that good this year.

BG is well-coached and played inspiring football.

I think Rita had 3 TOs in the 1st half--that could've derailed some scores, although BG forced those TOs.

Two minutes into the Q4, Rita took most of their starters out. Backups ran the show. If starters keep playing, maybe they score two more TDs.

Rita only gave up 3 points against a stud RB and offense that averaged 28 points a game in a weaker conference.

Your point is very well-taken. I guess I'm just trying to purport some reasons why SR didn't dominate against BG.

WeGo is getting clocked by most programs that are halfway competitive. I watched DGN a few times this year, they have taken a step back from previous seasons, which is expected, but are still solid. I watched, admittedly, only a few drives from the BG game, and it seemed like SR should have been able to score at will. Seemed much bigger, faster, stronger. That's the crux of my comment. I think McCaravan's answer and yours explain it best, though.

I figured Rita would whoop 'em and was surprised by the scoring updates.

They could play on St. Patrick's Dan in Dublin, but there will be no luck for them next week.

The reavis game showed that ESL has a lot of holes in their defense

StPats is my Feeto upset of the week!!!
Pats should definitely put up some points. They have proven they can do that most of the season. If they cannot, this will be over quick.

Their defense, despite having some really talented players who will be playing in college, has been a concern. If their defense can turn it around this could be an interesting game in the 2nd half.

Where were the holes in the ESL defense?
