Heard that on the radio. The host a heel homer that one reason was that Woods seemed to go against what hof coach roy williams wanted him to do. It seems to me that when a tar heel transfers he never fit in their system anyway. When a Duke player transfers it's because Coach K lied to him about said players role. Look back at what was said abot the twins and drew. OFC

This gem from gary:

“Well, 7th was never "recruited over". Truth is, getting a shot at PG was a condition that came from his camp during recruitment, and Roy just obliged. He was even given the first off-the-bench op as a frosh, but if you remember that never worked out, and after a while JB would either play the entire second half or Britt or Stilman would back him up.

Last season it didn't take long before he fell behind Jalek in the pecking order, and there was some talk of a transfer then... but then the junk with Jalek happened and 7th was back to the backup role. From everything I was told, it is very probable that if Jalek had stayed in school 7th would have transferred before this past season (which ironically may have been his best path).

So Roy really doesn't recruit "over" guys he recruited for starting roles --- he recruits more for succession. As for 7th, he was a project --- a Combo trying to be a PG --- as opposed to a PG1, and he knew that coming in.”

Okay, so this is hilarious for 2 reasons:

1. The idea Roy didn't recruit over him.
2. The honored tradition of Roy not "obliging" ridiculous demands of recruits.

I hope everyone enjoys hypocrisy!

gary-7 is the same moron who constantly threw shade at their pg Coby White this past season even though White was one of their better players this season.

Those FKG IDIOTS are getting ready to eat a lot of BS they sling. It's alllll coming home now. I'm already seeing massive backpeddling on One and Done now here at home. They've finally drudged through the massive scandal, people are beginning to forget, and the youngsters will start returning to the Hill. Soon they'll have more one and done's than we do.

I read this morning that unc cheat u have had 5 piayers transfer since 2001. wood, the wear twins, drew a one other that I can't remember. I do understand that none of these players were worthy to play for the heels and contributed nothing to the program but they still considered " family? " Now who was the player I forget? OFC

It's amazing to see these players leave the death grip of Roy Williams. Somehow this man finds a way to keep players like no other!

It’s because Roy is paying them more than his players would make in the G League. Little will miss Roy’s monthly pay check when he is playing in those G League arenas this year.

I thought the best part of that Gary quote is he very subtly stated that Roy made a promise of position/playing time to a recruit. I was certain only K does that.

He wasn’t worth a dump. The blue bloods are highly competitive almost every single year. Every player (ok - barring injury) controls his own destiny. If you want more minutes there’s 2 options: Work for it or leave for less competitive university. A lot of guys want the attention and honor of playing for a powerhouse. They get the scholly offer and think they’re capable of big things. That’s understandable because a lot of them are. If not, they are used to being the alpha dog and believe they are special. Reality hits quick for some.

All that “recruited over” or “lying to players” is bs garbage and playing victim. The goal is to have the best possible team, period. A coach may lay out a vision for a player’s role on a team but it’s 100% up to the player to fulfill the vision. For example - Tre announced his decision to stay so Coach K pitched a dual-PG vision to RJ Hampton. There’s nothing wrong or unrealistic about it. Pretty dreamy scenario. If RJ reclassifies and chooses to sign with Duke, it’s his responsibility to be the player in the vision.

(I don’t think we’re getting Hampton, just making an example)
