I am trying to now. Was running on only 5 hours and thats not going to cut it. Started taking melatonin(?) a little over a week ago and sleeping much better. Takes about an hour to kick it but I am out after that.

I'd have to lay down for 12+ hours to maybe get a total of 8 hours sleep if that. I just can't stay asleep continuously very often. Today I felt so exhausted that I ended up staying in bed for probably 12 hours (didn't really have anything going on anyways). Just didn't have the energy or motivation to get out of bed.

Hate it for you but glad I am not alone.

I get 7-8 most work nights. Lay down about 8:30 (up at 4:30) Take a melatonin as I’m laying down and read a book in bed. Fall asleep within 15 minutes most times. Been doing this for many years. Work in a factory on my feet all day and can’t stand being tired. Being plum wore out at the end of the day may have something to do with sleeping so good.

I haven't had a normal nights sleep since they sent me home to work. I stay up too late watching tv. Fall asleep and then wake up wired and can't go to bed.

I’m 60 and since I was about 17 or 18 I’ve averaged maybe 5-5.5 hours a night. The last ten days, I’ve had less than 4 hours 8 of them. Last Saturday I laid down at 11:00, at 5:30 am, I hadn’t slept a wink.

I could if I didn't have to wizz 3 times a night. I'm not even that old. I may have to try some sort of medicine.
Happens to me sometimes too. I'll have nights where I wake up every 2 hours cause I have to piss the Atlantic ocean out of me

Only when I take Ambien.

I seriously have issues sleeping lately. Ambien is a life saver but u gotta be careful with that stuff.

Lately without the sleeping aid, I am lucky to get 4 hours.

I generally am asleep by 11p and awake at 5:15a sometimes uninterrupted, lately not so much. It has been pretty messed up with COVID...kids staying up later than usual caused my bed time to get later. I used to get about an extra 30 mins or so more.

During the week I get 5-6 hours and weekend try to get 7.

We have an 18 mo old who is starting the 6 months of terror now. Was a tremendous sleeper as a baby and now it is a sideshow.

What are you guys doing to prevent you from getting at least 7 hours most nights? Staying up late? Waking up early? Not sleeping through the night?

My alarm is set for 7 every morning so it’s not that hard to get to bed around 11 every night.

I’m probably about 6 hours of real sleep. The last two are usually spent kind of falling asleep and then waking up about three times before I just give up.

For me going to bed about 30 mins or so later. I get up at 5:15 for gym every morning. Basically staying up too late now. I've contemplated switching to a lunch gym session but honestly I'd probably still wake up around the same time...it is almost an internal alarm clock at this point, been doing it for gym or work for the past 7 years at least.

  • Working out too late at night kills sleep.
  • Getting up to pee a lot sucks bit saw palmetto works for that @Baller Cal .
I get close to9 hrs sleep each night.
  • 1 mg of melatonin does the trick. I’m out in 15 min

I wasn't until January when I switched shifts. Now I get a glorious 8-9 hrs each and every day. Absolutely makes a tremendous difference in my mood, helps with depression, workouts are much better...used to drag or sometimes they were half assed. Cant overstate enough how important getting enough sleep is...I was getting by on 5 or 6 hrs a night before.

After I got a c pap. I now get 7/8 hours of good sleep. Before that I was not getting the good deep sleep. Always felt tired and sleepy the next day. Got hooked on Ambien when I was working. Even then between 4/5 hours of deep sleep. Rotating shifts every week did not help. Once I retired I got off the Ambien.

even with a sleeping pill, I tend to wake up about 2 hours after I fall asleep. Then after that it's hit or miss if I get back to sleep. Sometimes I'm up for 20 minutes or so and then sleep the rest of the night. Sometimes not. Last Saturday I went to bed at 11pm. Woke up at 2am. Didn't fall asleep again until 3am Monday morning.

Curious to know what shifts you switched from / to.
