Wow, UCLA is really bad this year - they lost AGAIN last night to New Mexico!

For all peoples' whining about OOC opponents, in-conference UCLA might be the worst football team we play this year.

I've never understood why they can't field regularly competitive teams, if not good altogether. It is a damn good school. Maybe playing in the Rose Bowl instead of their own, on-campus stadium, is a deterrent somehow. That is a problem for Pitt and Temple.

Somehow, I've always had a heart for UCLA. I hope another Dick Vermeil comes along and rebuilds the program.

The "whining" about the non-conference schedule is because this UCLA team is terrible, and yet they'd be favored over all 3 of our non-conference opponents. That's unfortunate.

He has to have regrets. You don't leave a playoff team asking to double your pay only to have it blow up and you end up back in your home state playing for very likely the worst Big 10 team for half the NIL.

NFL chances have decreased as well. Red flags and average play don't usually jive into GMs "let's draft this guy!"

He'll take a paycheck from Netflix to discuss this in 2 to 5 years.
He’s getting less money at UCLA than he would have gotten at Tennessee?

They were favored over New Mexico. By 2 tuddies. How'd that work out for them?

I was hearing buzz about Temple being better this year, and how they may hang with Oklahoma and give them a bit of trouble ... not win, but keep it close. 25-0 OU late in 2Q.

I was worried about Oregon. Noon start on a field hockey field. Not so much anymore. # just seemed too low. Same with OK and Temple.

1 and I college visited ucla in 2012, it’s fantastic. He also would have played lax there. We didn’t let him apply cause if he got in, I wouldn’t have been able to say no. ($70k+ per)

It's going to take KC Keeler a few seasons to make Temple competitive, but he's been successful everywhere he's coached.

Have to wonder why UCLA is so bad - they have so much going for them. Really though the issue for decades is lack of interest from the admin to get serious about foootball - they’re all about bball there.

Supposedly. He was getting* $2m at Tennessee, asked for $4m, and UCLA gave him $1.4m.

Last I read, if I remembered anything accurately.

*whatever getting entails with NIL

I thought it was mostly an engineering school. Do they offer classes on how to "make a family"? Asking for a friend.
lol, my cousin was a Georgia Tech graduate, a hell of an engineer, RIP.

Apparently it's a top 5 Comp Sci - AI institution, as well. My oldest has it as a 3rd tier option on his wish list (he's 100% committed to studying AI at this point). I think going down to the Atlanta area to play baseball in the summer (which he described as "playing baseball inside the sun") may have turned him off a bit. His first choice is Carnegie Mellon. I've tried to explain to him that it's in Pittsburgh (and all that that entails - none of it good), but he seems undeterred for now. His mother and I would prefer he play baseball at MIT, but he doesn't seem to want to play baseball in college any longer.
