The Pepsi contract was renewed for one year last June. There is currently a RFP process going on.

the folks evaluating the beverage exclusivity package-offers need to grasp that, while this is a ”Coke” vs “Pepsi” proposition, traditional carbonated soft drinks now comprise only about 15% (often less) of the aggregate beverage mix on a college campus... GenZ perceives colas, and CSDs in general, similar to how they look at ABC / NBC / CBS / Fox , ie. ambivalence/ ignorance. That said, the most popular beverage categories these days on a college campus are high-credential juices (eg. Tropicana/Naked Juice) , premium ready-to-drink teas, premium/enhanced waters, functional/enhanced premium sports drinks, packaged ready-to-drink coffees, then you get to the traditional CSDs that were dominant only ten-twelve years ago...

the key is looking at which of the two conglomerates brings the best trademarks to campus in these emerging categories - as those will maximize future-proof revenue for dining/retail operations, catering and concessions ... one company identified these generational shifts nearly 20yrs ago and now finds itself, literally, light years ahead of the other

I’ve gone to all ZERO SUGAR drinks:

- Cherry Coke & Wild Cherry Pepsi
- Cherry Dr Pepper
- A&W Root Beer

- Gatorade

- Gold Peak ZERO SUGAR Sweet Tea

I drink nearly 1 an hour… also AWESOME.

I kid, but just a little… I at least try to alternate between DC and ice water throughout my workday. But it’s the Diet Coke that truly fuels me. :p
I have known three colleagues from work who passed away in their late 50s-early 60s from an unexpected heart attack All three drank Diet Coke all day long. I know that correlation does not necessarily equal causation, but drinking DC might be a good habit to break.

Generally id agree, but the lady who live next-door to my grandmother lived to be 94 and she drank at least one diet Dr Pepper every day that she can remember.

You are way too deep in the weeds on the details of this project. As usual, the final decision will ultimately be determined by which option lines the pockets of one or more members of the BOT (excluding Barry, of course).

While my territory does not include PA I’ve been involved in sponsorship deals, including colleges and universities, for nearly two decades - not once has a BOT factored in on such a decision (perhaps you were being facetious) . Usually it’s a committee comprised of the auxiliary services corporation, VP of Finance, Athletics, Marketing folks, and sometimes a broker and/or consultant(s)

Good the hear, I guess that I was mistaken that Ira & Dumbly could personally profit by board decisions. My bad.

My grandfather worked for Pepsi so I have a soft spot for Pepsi. I can still picture him in his Pepsi work shirts. However, I do like a Coke every now and then also, especially with Pizza. Short answer, it doesn’t make any difference to me what product the Beav sells. They are both good products.

I do appreciate the observation and the advice, thank you. Genetically, that seems to be about the age when members of my family tend to check out anyway. I’m certainly not counting on making it much past that point. I figure I’ll just enjoy what I can of life along the way… and if I do happen to get some extra years beyond that, it’ll be a pleasant surprise and a bonus. That’s my approach, anyway.

I’d kill for one of those work shirts, hold up well in the pit

The Culver's near me recently switched from Pepsi to Coke as well. Rough time to be the Pepsi Account Executive, lost at least 2 big accounts. :D
