One of the largest major health science research and medical facilities in the world.Uab major research hub
Yup.One of the largest major health science research and medical facilities in the world.
Yup.
Northeast people can be so parochial and think anything in the South could not be so worthy. LOL.
Yeah I did hear they had a massive med school. Hey, that's a boom for the school and the state economy. I just find it a bit unusual that UAB is the research giant in the state and not Bama the flagship school. Also I could be wrong but I feel like the schools getting AAU invites outside of ND have primarily been in schools in or around cities like USF in Tampa and ASU in Tempe in suburban Phoenix. One of the largest major health science research and medical facilities in the world.
Waiting on Adventures in Babysitting to tell us over three threads that that's what he said now.One of the largest major health science research and medical facilities in the world.

Yeah, but I live in the deep south (for most of the last 28 years) and have never heard of anyone mention UAB ever. I live 15 miles from the best medical center west of Manhattan and have never heard anybody mention UAB. That doesn't mean they aren't a good medical research university; it just means they aren't really discussed that way.Yup.

Yea, quite a boom…whatever that means. And you’ll find most of the AAU universities that have big academic medical and research centers are in cities because that’s where the patient base is concentrated even when the main campus isn’t there. Colorado, Cornell, Tufts, U. Illinois , Indiana and Maryland for example. Penn St ‘s is somewhere else too, in Hershey near Harrisburg rather than in State Coll.Yeah I did hear they had a massive med school. Hey, that's a boom for the school and the state economy. Honest question. Why do you talk in the third person? You sound like a ******* moron because you do that.Yea, quite a boom…whatever that means. There are only a few AAU exceptions to this model of big city med school: Dartmouth, for example. Some don’t have a med school at all. Princeton, Purdue , U. Oregon off the top of Shelby’s head.
Anyhow, even though Rutgers didn’t have a medical school when admitted to the AAU, med schools have lot to do with research funding and prominence so being in cities is not a coincidence.
I am pretty sure that for the 20 years every major US athlete (Jordan, Brady, Nicklaus, among others) was getting their orthopedic surgery done by Dr James Andrews because he was considered cutting edge and the best in the world they were getting their surgery done in Birmingham because he was part of the UAB medical school.I can count on zero fingers the number of times in my life I have thought, believed, considered, or heard someone else thought, believed, or considered the University of Alabama-Birmingham to be a top research university. Admittedly, that could be my failing ... but *shrugs shoulders*.
“A boom for the school” LOL. Say again, who’s the moron ?Honest question. Why do you talk in the third person? You sound like a ******* moron because you do that.
Because it seems to matter to the B1G schools. Luckily, Rutgers does not have Georgetown on the schedule this year for football, because we could have lost to them and lost our spot in the B1G.And this notion B1G only takes AAU schools. Why? What does it matter? College sports are dead. Who cares? I don’t.
Suck my dick. In the words of Frank Rizzo, you're a real crumb bum.“A boom for the school” LOL. Say again, who’s the moron ?
Not sure about that. What possible expansion targets in recent memory aren’t in the AAU ? Probably only Oklahoma. Surely Oklahoma was considered and factors unrelated to AAU got in the way.Because it seems to matter to the B1G schools. This guy does the same thing. Wonder if there’s a connection.Honest question. Why do you talk in the third person? You sound like a ******* moron because you do that.
UAB has an outstanding medical school. Btw, downtown Birmingham is becoming quite the foodie place.I can count on zero fingers the number of times in my life I have thought, believed, considered, or heard someone else thought, believed, or considered the University of Alabama-Birmingham to be a top research university. Admittedly, that could be my failing ... but *shrugs shoulders*.
