I think it's normal to focus everything that went wrong this past Tuesday, but wow, what about his performance of his potential lead this team the rest of the season 26 pts 7 rebounds, 3 assists, 40% 3 pt and 50% overall. I don't think it's getting enough recognition or what he can meet with his team the rest of the year especially if our point guard is out for a while.

He's the best player on the team (in a crazy small sample size)

16pts
5.3 reb (unreal for a guard)
3.7 *** vs. .7 TO.....(so nearly 3 to 1 *** turnover ratio)
.7 steals
53%fg
38% 3pt

So, he's leading the team in scoring, assists and 2 in rebounding, 2nd in 3pt shooting. His euro step in traffic is crazy good.

He's been all that and a bag of chips...not fair that we bought him off our competition....but glad he's in blue nonetheless.

At least for the short term and maybe the long term we ride Aberdeen 30 minutes a game, Chandler starts and must be a team leader.

The wild card is Williams. If he comes around, that is one tough big and strong back Court. Another wild card is jelly. I think we need to use them a lot more. He is a great passer. I could see him almost in Williams role plus ability to step back top of the key and knock a 3 a three down.

He & chandler are now locked with Oweh on the perimeter now that Lowe is done so time for JJ to stop jacking 3s and learn from Aberdeen how to get to the paint and finish. Really going to need he & kam & Noah to capable when coming in to the game vs us hoping we get contributions from them.

Love aberdeens game & hope he gets more consistent on his 3s as the season goes.

3.7 assists and .7 turnovers is more like a 5:1 ratio, which would be insane, better than Braden Smith, but I don’t expect him to keep that up if he becomes the full time lead guard with the Lowe injury.

Ideally Aberdeen fills in for Lowe and the defense improves enough to offset whatever we lose on offense. More JJ should mean more offense when he’s in, but he has to learn to play within the system. If Kam can turn his 2nd half v UofL into a standard outing, that will give me a ton of confidence. He could be a difference maker on offense and defense.

Thinking about Kam v UofL reminds me of something Cal used to say when a guy had an unusually good game—“you just told on yourself.” Found this quote from 2023 talking about Adou:

“As good as he was in the second half, he didn’t do that in the first half. That’s why I said, it is probably your choice. Because of you, you tell on yourself when you come out and play like he did in the second half. That’s what he is capable of.”

I believe DA being the surprise he’s been has gotten into a couple of his teammates heads, and coach needs to reel that stuff in! Did any of you have these 3 as the 3 best on the team? I sure didn’t!

1. DA
2. CC
3. MM

A lot of people on here rather focus on the two air balls

Kam & Jelavic should be playing in front of Mo D.
He hasn't shown much at all
Supposedly a muscle guy, he was abused by UL
People seem to love Mo and he usually does fight hard but when he,Oweh and Garrison are together it's like a black hole on offense. I prefer the Andrew Carr type stretch 4.

Lowe is soft. Go

Aberdeen
Chandler
Oweh (pope has to tell him stop being a sissy
Mo
Moreno

Garrison isn’t very smart. In fact he’s dumb. Sit him and play Jelevic over him til JQ is back. First guys off the bench. Jasper for offense. Jelevic. Noah. Kam. Hell I’d rather see Potter over BG. BG sucks

Saw that early on. Aberdeen is a special talent. Best get of the pope era so far. Took him off a title team too, in conference. Golden was very upset by it. Pope will be fine as soon as he gets in a rhythm and finds his method. Right now he’s tinkering within his own philosophy and system. He’s adapting to the conference and finding the right method. He can’t use the exact system he used at BYU. This conference must have dogs and defenders. We will be fine but it might take a little longer than we’d like.

Guy like Aberdeen are not easy to find. And I love his demeanor, I liked him at Florida. As much as I hated Florida I liked that team and their demeanor. Aberdeen was at the top of the players I liked before he ever got to Kentucky. Just can’t not like the guy.
