True. Please please someone get me the audio of the press conference, I want to hear exactly what Fitz says. If he says anything remotely resembling, "We lost to a good football team out there. They've made the FCS playoffs the last three years and we knew we'd be in for a fight, just didn't take care of the ball and darn it, those self-inflicted wounds cost us" then he should be fired immediately.
Take a deep breath. Sometimes you just get outtalented and outcoached by a D1-AA football team.
We all need to laugh these types of games off. Fitz ain’t going nowhere.
You would also be shitting all over him if he went out there and said “the players suck, what the hell were we doing?”
That’s how Fitz tries to take the blame after **** losses. Doesn’t actually do anything about it, but I can at least respect an attempt to not just **** all over the players.

I’m so dialed in to the program these days that I thought the game was scheduled for a 6:30 PM kickoff. I missed the entire thing. All things considered, it was a much better experience than last week.
See? You knew the outcome and you didn’t leave.
I was able to watch the first half live on TV before my kid’s friend’s birthday party and had a bad feeling. I watched the score on my phone at the party and my feeling was confirmed.
I chuckled, said “same old Fitz”, and started getting ready for Miami Oxymoron.

It’s pretty easy to take the blame when you know you’re untouchable. Hire your unqualified buddy to a multi million dollar contract, turn in terrible performances, spew some generic platitudes, change nothing. The Fitz way
Not arguing with you there, just that there’s a certain subset of the fan base who’s gonna complain no matter what.
Sure and you’ve been around long enough to understand that it’s not about what Fitz says or doesn’t say in this specific instance. The frustration is an accumulated reaction to Fitz’s very obvious flaws that he refuses to rectify out of hubris/stubbornness. It’s totally legitimate for people to be fed up with his dog and pony show press conferences
"No matter what". Not really. This year, if NU loses a close, hard fought, disciplined game against a real opponent, I wouldn't have much to complain about, would I? Losing to a weak FCS team that gave up 62 points to Incarnate Word, KNOWING that nothing will change, its ok to complain.
Also, I am no longer on the Free Rock, but I believe you had a vitriolic rant a couple of hours ago. At least it looked that way from the title in "related threads".
Watching dOSU v. (Holy) Toledo now. They are scoring at will against the Rockets. Will not be a pretty game in Evanston.
Probably but if he said MY whole coaching staff got out coached today and has not performed good enough for awhile. I think we have all become too complacent. The team, the fans, the school all have good reason to be disappointed at us.
I am going to start this week and for the rest of the season, closely evaluate how we coach. From the trainers and strength coach right up to a self evaluation. And I going to start making changes and not stop until we return winning.
If I have replace somebody, I’m going to do it. If I have to change a play or playbook, I’m going to do it. If I have to change our systems, or our training schedule or even our goddamn uniforms, I’m going to it.
This ends today. The old way, whatever that means has led us to embarrassing our school, our fans, our selves - is over and we will find a better way.

Bob has it. It's meaningless to "take accountability " if you never (timely) change anything, never intend to, never admit or learn from mistakes and have no consequences. Even his now-famous "never again " quote was waved away..
Perhaps he will turn it around, but, make no mistake it won't be soon. That would be admitting he was wrong.

Our team had its most recent success when the stadium was empty. Maybe Fitz is playing chess by scaring away all fans?
Press conferences are theater, and a requirement of the job.
There’s no upside to publicly trashing players. Do players ‘try harder’ because their coach crapped on them in public? I doubt it.
I don’t think there’s upside to publicly trashing coaches. Is it possible to coach harder? I’m not sure. Seems like there’s a growth curve for coaches, and eventually you’re good (McPherson) or you’re not (Springer), but maybe your recruiting makes up for your shortcomings.
Like players in conditioning and the weight room, I suspect coaches become better coaches in the offseason, depending on how much they study their chosen profession.
Fitz plays the game he’s required to when things are bad. It’s the right approach, if entirely unsatisfying for fans.
I am excited for a Miami loss to be followed with ‘all our goals are ahead of us.’
And at loss number 7, one goal (WIN THE LOLHAT) is ahead of us, though technically perhaps we’re not mathematically eliminated from the division.
