From FB and Joe Adams:

Spoke with Acadens dad last night, it was mutual decision. Acaden when recruited felt what was explained has changed based on transfer portal focuses.

Jarrett states they will take 48hrs and phone is already blowing up.

So mutual decision if true. Pope has another plan?

Probably before Lowe coming here he already considered leaving...
That may well be the case. I haven't read anything credible regarding what Lewis and his family may have been thinking that led to his decision to decommit.

well , thats a bad sign for our system if the DOJ is flubbing spelling of names , who's in charge the Kraken lady? But you are right and now I've changed my mind. Lewis leaving is best for us. too much can go sideways with a player having to deal with a parent in trouble like that
The initial press releases about this incident were put out in September 2024. They are still working on flushing out the contractors that were getting paid hundreds of thousands of dollars per month to make simple web page updates like this.

Looks like the important documents have the correct info though.

Given the info on shadiness that we have now, I just assume that they attempted to extort more money out of UK at the last minute.

“You will have to come in and compete with the players for minutes” - pope

“I can beat Travis Perry for minutes” - Lewis

Pope fills out roster

“Truly a hard decision, but I’m transferring” - Lewis

If this helps with Kinney then I’m all for it, want that kid in Lex. I do think it looked bad initially but sounding like we did dodge a bullet.
Dad is a mess, for sure. But we can't go into next season with TP or CC being the backup at PG. That's a recipe for disaster. Especially considering Lowe isn't coming in with surefire expectations like Butler was.

Whatever. Just get someone outta the portal that's more experienced. His father is a problem and we don't need any more circus **** around here.......I trust Pope and almost wouldn't be surprised if UK pushed him away the more they dealt with his dad

Pope has a plan and orchestrated this in my mind. He saw red flags and politely backed out.

Can Duke’s NIL deal include legal representation? Might be worth exploring.

This is EXACTLY why I stated in another thread yesterday, you recruit the best player at every position no matter who is already on the roster. This day and age, you have to protect yourself (coach), because if a players gets a better opportunity, bet your sweet *** they will take it. If you are NOT recruiting over players on the roster, you are backing up and not doing yourself any favors. TMFS. Which is why I said if a Perry, Garrison, JJ, Noah, Chandler, hell even Oweh, if the opportunity comes to sign someone better than them at their position, you are a fool if you do not. Pope is paid to win games, not make friends. Loyalty, Loyalty, Loyalty, a word that generally does not existent. Not saying the player is wrong either, at the end of the day, they have to do what is in the best interest of them, period. It is a big time business, nice guys truly do finish behind.

I wanted him as the backup PG with high upside. If he's better than expected year 1, he could start and be a star player. If he's at least "solid," he can play off the bench and continue to improve.

He doesn't have faith in himself that he's good enough to beat out others for minutes. Why should we?

And if we can't have faith in that, it's not a loss.

Well damn. That freaking sucks

Huge loss
Not really. If he was THAT big of a loss, he will still be here, and Pope would not have signed a proven, better PG. Also, if Lewis didn't feel he was good enough to me the man at PG, how can you consider it a huge loss ? Not saying he will not be a good one, but he did not feel as though he was the best PG on the roster, so,,,,,,,,

Acaden's dad is in prison? How did Joe contact him? Imagine being in prison and being told "Joe Adams from Bleed Blue Network is on the phone for you". C'mon.

If it was mutual and Pope didn't fight to keep him then he must have not just another plan but a better plan. My guess is they think they can get someone with as much talent but more experience in the portal.

Zero Chance Joe Adams spoke to Mr. Lewis in prison. The internet needs to stop playing into his delusions.
Well, Mr. Lewis posted on X as recently as April 5th, so if he can post on X, I would say Joe Adams possibly could have spoke with him in some fashion. It is all on X his recent post. If he can post on X, why couldn't he converse with Adams ?

Will not be sentenced until june 16th, But hey facts are optional to make a point, right ?

SHINGTON – Jarrett Lewis, 44, of Washington, D.C., pleaded guilty today to one count of wire fraud in connection with an embezzlement scheme that bilked a District non-profit advocacy organization of more than $320,000, announced by U.S. Attorney Edward R. Martin, Jr., and FBI Special Agent in Charge Sean Ryan, of the Washington Field Office’s Criminal and Cyber Division.

U.S. District Court Judge John D. Bates scheduled a sentencing hearing for June 16, 2025.

Lewis was employed by the victim agency between June 2021 and October 2022. According to the statement of facts, while serving as Director of Finance for the non-profit, Lewis perpetrated a scheme to defraud his employer. Lewis was one of three employees at Victim 1 with access to the non-profit’s bank account. It was part of Lewis’s duties to pay bills on behalf of the organization. Lewis was also provided with a VISA card for an account belonging to Victim 1, and was authorized to use the VISA card to incur expenses on behalf of Victim 1 for goods and services related to its operations.

On 32 occasions, Lewis took advantage of his position by accessing Victim 1’s account and causing funds to be transferred to his personal account and for his own personal benefit. The total loss suffered by Victim 1 resulting from these transfers is $309,950.88. Lewis also used the non-profit’s VISA to book and pay for personal travel for himself, his family, and friends, totaling $9, 112. 96. In total, the parties stipulate that Lewis’s scheme to defraud amounts to a total of $321,057.98.

Lewis was arrested on September 5, 2024. He faces a custodial sentence in addition to fines and restitution.

This case was investigated by the FBI’s Washington Field Office. It is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael Truscott with the Fraud, Public Corruption, and Civil Rights Section of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia.

Chandler will be ok at backup, just depends who’s out there with him but I also expect him to take a huge step forward in his overall game next season. I think a lot around lex does as well.

I bet he, and all the other recruits, are constantly keeping their eyes open as to who their team adds. Sounds like Lewis also might have been thinking of this for a little while now.

I just remember looking at our backcourt and wings as we signed guys thinking "this is great, but there's no way everyone's going to be happy with this"

Which is why we can't really expect to add real talent for spots 11, 12, 13, etc.

Not exactly thrilled having Chandler as the backup PG. He is better suited for the 2/3 spot. Need another PG very much. Ballhandling was a MAJOR issue last year. You have to have guys who can break down a defense and set the table for other guys. Chandler is NOT that kind of player. Nothing against Chandler, but he is NOT a PG. Has not proved he can play the role, even as a backup status.
