Latest update after PAC meeting the other day from PAC propagandist Canzano:

As of now, the belief is that the Pac-12 will be able to continue fend off poachers. There also hasn't been much noise about the conference merging with the ACC despite recent ideas indicating they should.

the reality is that so far the PAC commissioner hasn't been able to provide them with a media deal and the four corners schools have been talking with the BIG 12:

Big 12 expansion speculation: Arizona, Colorado 'odds-on candidates' to leave Pac-12 first

from the BIG 12 bb tourney:

Big 12 Commissioner Brett Yormark: ‘No surprise’ conference eyeing West Coast expansion

https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nc...rence-eyeing-west-coast-expansion/ar-AA18o8hh

“I love the composition and the makeup of our conference right now going forward,” Yormark told Kansas City’s KMBC Channel 9 on Wednesday. “So we’ll see where future expansion is. Obviously, I’m watching what’s happening on the West Coast. It’s no surprise, I’ve been very intentional. I want to get into that fourth time zone.

“I want to truly be a national conference in every respect, both brand and geographic footprint.”

Yormark talking expansion has become instant fodder for social media. The Big 12 has been linked to the Pac-12′s “Four Corners” schools — Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado and Utah — for months, as well as to instability out west. Media reports have the Big 12 and the Four Corners schools in recent contact

The longer the Pac-12 fails to deliver a new TV contract that’s acceptable to all members, the more speculation will increase about schools jumping to the safe haven of the Big 12.

One big problem with the merger idea also -- as soon as the ACC opens its contracts, then the schools that can leave will leave, changing the value instantly. If the contracts were NOT opened then you'd have to have the PAC schools sign on until 2036. Why would Washington or Oregon, or even Stanford sign on with the ACC until 2036 when its highly likely the Big Ten will come calling in 5 years or less?

I am not sure right now the only real values schools in the PAC that would make any conferences $$$$ are Oregon and Washington. Those schools would make the B12 $$$ Mayber Arizona St because of the PHX market. The ACC pretty much has FSU, Clemson, UNC, Duke that are $$$$ making schools. So maybe you are right about the sign on but between the two conferences there are only 6-7 teams worth grabbing so it might stick. I do agree with WVUAllen that there will very well be a conference of left overs. The BIG wants ND so bad they are willing to wait so they may not grab Oregon and Washington. But I do think they would grab FSU and UNC anyway thats a rabbit hole for another day

The BIG 12 will gain revenues with the four corners schools. The commissioner has stated he won’t make additions unless they are additive to the conference. He is considering those adds because it will add a fourth time slot for BIg 12 games, plus new inventory for media partners. Of course if you could add Washington and Oregon they probably are the most valuable pieces left but everyone knows they want to join the Big Ten and are leaving within five years if an opportunity arises.

Seems pretty clear from FSU and others they aren’t going to just ride out the next decade in a lower ACC contract so that will go a long way in determining the third conference.

PAC schools of course don’t want change but if they never get a deal then some schools are going to act.

I say add the 4 corner schools and NCState plus one the following in this order:

Miami (if the SEC and Big 10 don’t grab them).
Louisville
Duke
West Liberty State University
Davis and Elkins
Liberty
James Madison
WV State
Glenville State
Marshall
Duval Middle School

Last two:
Pitt
Virginia Tech

Why bail them out when they left WVU behind several times all the way back to the Eastern 8 Conference days.
