Greg,
Do you think the ACC will be aggressive in its acquisition? What do you think is the probability of ACC leadership attempt to become the first 20 team conference to diversify media markets, and potentially mitigate future losses, should a couple of the larger brands leave for higher revenues at some point in the future, which will probably occur at some point given the disparity in allocations?

Not familiar with ACC leadership/perspectives, but if Im the PAC12 or ACC I gotta think they are seriously considering countering the SEC/BigTen by adding as many media markets as possible.

What do you think is the likelihood they adapt the weightings of what they value/prefer, and move forward strictly from a business perspective?

If that is the case, which 6 BIG12 programs the ACC would target?

Tough call. I’m hearing mixed signals on how aggressive ACC will push. There’s a lot of brainstorming going on. Adding WVU only, Partnerships with another conference, waiting for an N.D. end game, an out of the box National solution, couple other things. I know for a fact Texas approached ACC awhile back so ACC knew this day was always coming. I posted as much multiple times over last couple of years. Sounds like they were caught off a bit by timing. I always heard shakeup would be 22/23. In the meantime ACC hired a very respected Administrator from Northwestern as Commissioner. The guy was passed over even though he was thought to be in line to be the next BigTen Commissioner. @MichiganHerd may have more knowledge on this guy but I know ACC Presidents really like him. So he has that BigTen experience and contacts so there may be some smoke there. Personally I’m not sure what his style is like or how aggressive he is. Sorry Vol but that’s all I got.

As far as the Acc is concerned- doing nothing is not an option for them as their contracts are so low— and about to be even more so. Their main option for increasing revenues is to add and open their composition clause.

Considering how much more BIG 12 schools made in comparison to the ACC over the last decade- its hard to claim additions from the BIG 12 wouldnt be additive. There’s alot of begative info being spread now- probably by OU/UT camps- but regardless moves can be mutually beneficial despite the rhetoric.

WVU has rated better on television regularly than most exisiting ACC schools and has high streaming numbers as well- to go along with strong athletics, facilities and academics as well ( again despite spinning out there).

obviously ND is an important partner for them to try to acquire as well but WVU and the Acc would be mutually beneficial.

Your streaming point is a good one IMO. That’s the future. Not sure the ratings measures in much at this point. If any ACC move is made it sounds like it has to be a move that can let the ACC compete, in multiple ways, with this new SEC assuming they’re done. At this point the BigTen may very well stay as is because they’re money is already where the SEC is trying to get. By adding a team or two the BigTen and ACC aren’t catching the SEC. The conferences will need to go bigger than 16 if they want to compete longterm IMO. I just know at this point in ACC everything is now on the table.
