When the ivy league wannabes from Charlottesville is your best team, you have nothing to crow about. They'll probably beat duke next week, but then in the cfp they'll get exposed for the frauds they are. They'll be back to sucking next year.

It doesn't really matter how good or bad your conference is. You only recruit for your team, not the conference. So just play the schedule you are given, win and you get into the playoffs to prove your worth.

Best Urban Legend ever out of Richland County. S.Car thought the grass was greener and was too impatient to let the lawsuit play out regarding the elevated enrollment standards the ACC was attempting to require. Trying to impart anything on Clemson regarding that time is babytown frolics...
Respectfully, you are incorrect.

Agree! Tobacco Road schools were trying to control the threat of our basketball success, and it wasn’t going to go our way. A total hit job.

They may say the same about us in basketball. Did we win a game in the challenge last night?

A mediocre Duke team, that lost to Tulane, Uconn, etc., can win the whole damned Conferrence!!!! LOL

If true, we are the stupidest people ever and handed them success on a silver platter. We decided the best course of action in basketball was to take our ball and go home and be independent for 11 years and then joining the Metro conference for 9 years. We relegated ourselves in football and basketball to irrelevance for 21 years until we joined the SEC.

Clemson wisely stuck it out and became a football power in a basketball conference. They also built up their other sports like baseball and soccer. Their basketball success has been lacking but the money and national publicity from football has been worth it. They decided to play to their strengths and it has worked out pretty well for them overall. Since we walked away from the ACC (where we had our lone conference championship in football), Clemson has won 16 conference championships and 3 national championships in football.

It seems like every time there is a major decision to be made, we make the wrong one.

Played their Championship in a half empty stadium and neither team is in the playoff. That about sums it up. They may get better as a conference in football down the road, but right now…. They Suck!

Oh, come on now. I know the ACCCG is a poorly attended game, but half empty?

BOA holds about 75k people and I saw somewhere between 50 and 60... people.

Somebody pulled some shenanigans to make sure they got a team - Miami - in. That is the only rational explanation for Miami and Notre Dame flipping positions. Remember the Committee Chair last year saying some teams didn`t move in the final rankings because they didn`t play that week. Guess that rule didn`t apply this year for some reason. Hopefully we will find out how that happened but I feel like it will be like the pipe bomber. Some people know but they aren`t going to say anything.

That committee is so full of fertilizer their eyes are brown.

Here's the latest example -

They said a team isn't penalized for losing a conference championship and that's why OSU only dropped behind IU (due to the head to head) and not to 3rd behind UGA and why Bama didn't drop for losing to #3 UGA (whom they had previously beaten in Athens). But then they dropped BYU behind Miami for losing to TT in their conf champ... so they could put Miami and ND next to each other and say they could now use the head-to-head result to compare them... and that's what caused the flip.

Wait, what? You're saying you couldn't use the head-to-head result until they were slotted next to each other? WTH? Is there some sort of force of nature, like gravity, that prevented that comparison previously? Of course we all know that's total BS but demonstrates how stupid they think we are.

So, we have no consistency from situation to situation and nonsensical reasoning which led to that flip.

Here's what I think really happened -

They weren't planning on that doomsday ACC champ situation happening.
They assumed someone would win it outright and be ranked ahead of the second G5 champ (JMU in this case) and they'd have all the P4 champs in plus Tulane - and the ACC would be covered.
They also planned to put ND in, so they needed them ranked high enough to achieve that with one G5 champ getting in; thus they were ranked ahead of BYU and Miami (and BYU is a buffer here). BYU could lose to TT, not get dropped and still make the CFP as the last at-large. The UM/ND comparison wouldn't be invoked because they'd have the excuse that they weren't ranked next to each other (as if that matters?).
But with Duke winning, that meant the last at-large spot went to JMU at #25. There was no reasonable way to get Duke in the field, so in order to pacify the ACC they broke from precedent, dropped BYU behind Miami so they were now right behind ND and then said, "Oh look! They're ranked right next to each other so we can use head-to-head! UM beat ND earlier so they deserve to be ahead of them! Golly gee, who knew?!"
The rest is history.

What an obviously corrupt bunch. 🖕
