The bowl games are good for younger players and reward for older guys. They need to change the rules and let freshman play in the game. Need to treat it like a glorified spring game.

I believe the SEC so far is 0-4 in their Bowl games ..... strange times for sure.

I hate the ACC and not in Rivalry terms, I just hate the league. Even in the bad Big East, we still had games against teams we hated and cared about, I don't care about these games. If we were in the $EC or B1G, we'd at least have some games against brand name teams to get excited about and all those fan bases care, we see Clemson and down programs like FSU and Miami, then a bunch of half full stadiums against 6-6 level teams.

0-15 in their last 15 bowl games. 4 were canceled this year.

Not trending in the right direction as a league. We are the weak sister of the P5.

To use $EC mentality, the ACC must be disinterested. 😬
That's not true. UNC beat TX A&M last year in the Orange Bowl I believe.

I like the ACC and we are just going through a rough year this year and things could easily change next year. The powerful SEC hasn’t looked that good yet but they could close strong. I still think the country and the sports teams are suffering from Covid hangover.

The ACC sucks and we are part of that. Has the ACC improved the play on the field for ANY of the programs since moving over from The Big East? I am pretty sure the answer is no. Pitt had a nice year finally, I guess, but they have been pretty mediocre since coming over.

The SEC was 1-5 going into the Major Bowl games. Admittedly, they are the best FB conference in America, and as much as I loathe UK and the SEC in general ….. right now they are using their resources to dominate in Basketball, as well as Baseball and Football. Those schools and their communities place far more emphasis on sports than most others.

Your first sentence contradicts your second.

The $EC has, this year, two of the absolute best. But, as in most years past, after those two or three, there was nothing special.

This is usually true of most conferences.

I haven’t checked the numbers in quite some time, but years back when the ā€œbest conference everā€ stuff started the only barometer against other conferences was bowls.

According to the NCAA, the $EC was, overall. .504 in bowls. Not surprisingly, even then Bama was tops with a .590. I’d say that’s gone up considerably :p

As good as the $EC looks on paper they cannot just be handed the ā€œbestā€ tag because of two or three teams AFAIC.

But of course when we beat one of them that’s different ;)

No Rollem: not at all. Look at the numbers and you can see why the 1-5 is not contradictory with acknowledging the SEC is by far the best conference in football.

I may be incorrect on the specific numbers, but I believe there were a total of 12 SEC teams invited to play in the 2021-22 Bowl Games, and while the two (2) you referenced ā€as the bestā€ (UGA a and the TIDE) look at the top flight games being played since that 1-5 start. UK beat Iowa and Arkansas pounded Penn State. Also, remember Tx A&M Bowl game got cancelled.

In addition to UGA and Alabama, you must recognize that UF, LSU and Auburn have each won National Championships within recent memory. The 1-5 start was just more evidence of how bizarre these last 2 seasons have been for college sports.

Baylor and Olā€˜Miss will be a very interesting matchup, but I expect Mississippi to prevail. It’s as close to a home game as any could be.
