Louisville, Ole Miss to play in Nashville at Nissan Stadium in early September
Ole Miss and Louisville will kick off the 2026 season in Nashville on Sept. 5, On3’s Brett McMurphy reports. The game will take place in Nissan Stadium.
These two programs have met just once before, also in a neutral site game. The Rebels rolled the Cardinals 43-24 in Atlanta to kick off the 2021 season. Ole Miss quarterback Matt Corral dominated, passing for 381 yards and one touchdown.
The game will mark the first season opener for Pete Golding as Ole Miss‘ head coach. Golding, who had been with the program as its defensive coordinator since 2023, was promoted to full-time head coach following the Egg Bowl after Lane Kiffin shockingly departed a playoff-bound program for the coveted LSU job opening.

Louisville head coach Jeff Brohm will be kicking off his fourth season at the helm of his alma mater. Brohm was reportedly the subject of Penn State‘s head coaching search as it took its twists and turns prior to landing on Iowa State‘s Matt Campbell, but he shut down all talks of jumping ship before they got out of hand. Across three seasons, Brohm has led his program to a 27-12 (16-8) record.
10 regular season games were played this season between teams from the Southeastern Conference and the Atlantic Coast Conference. The SEC came out on top in six of 10 games, although three more bowl games will pit teams from the separate conferences against each other.
