Wednesday was ACC Media Day. The link below will give you access to all the info, but first some Duke highlights.

Grayson is your preseason player of the year and also was voted as a first-teamer.

Jayson was voted to the second team. He also received the second most votes for ROY. Giles was third. Dennis Smith, Jr. led the pack....he'd be my pick too.

Duke was also selected as the preseason favorite with 85 of the 91 votes. UNC got the other six.

I think I agree that Dennis Smith will be ROY, but Jayson will be right there and I think is a definite candidate for First team All-ACC, but Johnathan Isaac might be a sleeper in that category as well. That guy can flat out play.

And think about how stacked the ACC is. VT is listed finishing 10th and they are a top 25 team pretty much across the board. This is going to be a fun season.

I think it's safe to say the ACC might deserve nine or 10 bids when it's all said and done, but the problem is that teams will be beating up on each other so much that some of the league records might not reflect being NCAA Tournament worthy. You could potentially have bubble teams at 7-11 or 8-10 with impressive conference wins. Nothing will be easy this season.

ACC is crazy stacked this year. I think the top 12 teams all have the potential of making the Sweet 16. And I will add that I think Wake is capable of making the dance, but I can't see them winning two games in the Tourney. A couple months ago I posted my predictions and I thought that we'd get 10 teams in the dance; I stand by my picks. I knock Notre Dame a bit because I think their interior game will be lacking - and there are a lot of questions at point guard as well. FSU has the potential to be very, very good. But they always seem to be underwhelming in ACC play and their outside shooting has been extremely pedestrian.

At this point, the only thing I would adjust is making Dennis Smith the Freshman of the Year favorite, as I believe he will be given the keys to the Corvette and Giles might only have moderate minutes on a very talented team with depth. Here's a look back at my amateur picks.

I agree. Winning out of conference is going to be key for the ACC squads. Come out of the ooc slate with 3 or 4 losses and your season might be sunk.

I'd be surprised to not see Amile at least on the All Defensive team. I can't help but notice that Justin Jackson wasn't on those lists. I personally think he's good enough to make 3rd team, but it was a bit of a glaring omission.

I agree @timo0402. In fact, I'll go as far as to say UNC will get 3 maybe 4 guys in the All-ACC lists. Tony is going to get a shot at being in the freshman list, Jackson as a defender and all-leaguer, Meeks and Hicks have a good chance to be all-league as well and obviously Berry will be there.

meeks is a spry, floor running ,above the rim, rim protecting, All ACC player. As a senior he reminds me of Lew Alcindor (Kareem Abdul Jammer) as a senior. OFC

I actually had Justin Jackson on my third-team until Andrew White committed to Syracuse. I will say, though, that making an All-ACC team is significantly harder than it was back in the late 90's or early 2000's. There are 15 teams in this conference, which means only one player per team, on average, will receive All-ACC Honors. Factor in the the ridiculous talent that is in wide abundance this year, and it's easy to see why it's hard for any school to have more than one player make All-ACC. UNC won the league title last year and only Brice Johnson was selected to one of the three All-ACC teams.

Jackson can certainly make All-ACC, no doubt. I would say that Hicks has a pretty good chance, too. On our side, I can see Amile making one of the teams - that wouldn't surprise me one bit. I think I initially had close to 30 players that I was debating on for the final 15 spots. So yes, no easy process in predicting all-league honors when this conference is littered with many of the best players in all of college basketball.
