Ok I get it. It’s that time of year again where twitter blows up and all social media goes wild from a tweet. Just like last year when a bunch of old fogeys said WVU was in the ACC with OK st. etc..etc…

Obviously the walls are crumbling and it’s a arms race, but the rumor that Pac12 and ACC trying to have a partnership agreement put together with the aid of ESPN to accelerate the deal seems very plausible as ESPN ACC has been a failure. The network would have been a disaster if it was not for Notre Dame and their Olympic sports.

ESPN will do anything to keep ACC relevant as a Big 12 with Pac 12 teams would allow for FOX to grab the third best media conference out there having a one up on ESPN’s SEC. However, does ESPN actually help ACC or do they help ACC schools split to avoid getting poached by Big 10??

UVA seems like odd fit for SEC. I see them as B1G.
If SEC really wants Virginia footprint, VaTech seems more like SEC.
But I honestly feel VaTech & Miami get left behind in conf realignment.

I think VT could be in a great spot. They could easily end up where UVA doesn’t as UVA does not have to bring them with them this time. I hate to say it but it could be true. Maybe the same for us and Spitt?

Those were my thoughts as well. Virginia seems way too preppy to fit the SEC mold. When I saw this post, I searched other rumors, and another had the same teams, except for Miami replacing Virginia. Virginia belongs in the Ivey League.

I like several teams that the BIG could get. Notre Dame big yes. Oregon and Washington yes. Stanford yea ok. UVA. Yes Pitt adds zero so no and I am a mon River guy so I don’t hate Pitt they just don’t add anything. Kansas hell no VTech meh no WVU they for geographically like Pitt but what can they add ??? I like ND and the PAC 12 schools. The Big 12 getting Colorado Utah and the Arizona schools are more than a solid pick up for the Big 12

As yet, there is not one state where both the BIG and the SEC have a member. Will that hold? Probably, if they stop at 20 teams each. If they go to 24 or more teams each, overlap is inevitable.

I know I thought the same thing. VT is much more of a fit than UVA... Thats literally opposite of what I would wager, but hey....... who said logic was ever a strong point for anything NCAA related.

Big 10 = UVA, UNC. Possibly Oregon and they're praying for Notre Dame.

I suppose Im more interested in the "Art of warfare" thats deployed here, and how aggressive BIgTen, SEC, & BIG12 are at adding programs, and which programs are targeted first...

Considering Oregon & Washington are both AAU programs, I believe its a strategic mistake for the BigTen to not go ahead and add them. Some are trying to push the eradication of three conferences worth of schools to benefit the SEC and B10, but most of those conferences are made up of programs no more qualified than schools proposed to be left behind.

it doesn’t make sense- it will create the end of college sports, not the success of just two conferences. Why do I care about the success of ie Vanderbilt, South Carolina, Arkansas, Purdue, Minnesota, Iowa, Northwestern, etc? Especially if their success is achieved only by destroying a program or programs I follow?

The snot nosed “ upper echelon” lucky enough to have been pushed as the tops by networks feel they are too good to associate with certain schools and networks don’t want to pay for the product they receive, but even they know if they push everyone else down, then eventually the entire thing is done.

They’ll try to pack the “ undesirables” into one conference with the SEC and B10 getting most coverage— but the other schools MUST be included for both voting power and keeping out politicians from blowing up the master plan. So it’s doubtful an only B10 SEC playoff will happen. Media rights are also unknown. Lots of new players in the arena that the old players want to shut down but aren’t likely to do— because the new players have more revenues and also have platforms to air live sports.

Yeah...that's the talk! Everybody knows that teams are dreaming of being in the highly selective...powerful...and historically stable Big 12-2=10 +4 =14-2=12 conference!

ALLEN, this is the best post of all. B12 needs to get out in front of this before the P12 makes a move to strengthen itself. Finish them off. Don't let them rope-a-dope till they regain their strength. You know they are going after SDSU to regain part of the LA market. Then where? B12 schools? A few of the TX schools?

You got to wonder if these NIL from certain alums of certain teens in high school are a way to insure recruiting at that level for big time players. Say they perform well do they give them a raise as they go to the college team of that alum?

There are more football players - quality ones - than the few schools pushed by the media can absorb. If you destroy the entire fabric of fandom of college football by eliminating anyones participation but a select few,the money dries up too.

Football players NIL or not are not only going to two conferences- they never have.

The biggest schools with richest boosters and biggest budgets have ALWAYS gotten the top of the crop of players, nothing has changed except it’s in the open, legal and the players can now do what everyone else can- make money Wherever they choose legally.
