ACT has a 70 page booklet in the Sunday paper. I think it is on 28 Western teams. pick it up before they are gon
e.

Rville has alot of kids this year. I think it was 35 and no freshmen. I remember a few short years ago we had 23 on varsity and most years have about 28. Over half are 11, 12th graders.

Seen Murphy had 49 players. lol.

It's a good insert. Been many years since I've seen one of these in the AC-T, glad to see it back. Now I hope they'll bring back the basketball conference previews.

Yeah, I'll admit that I like the new magazine format that they used in putting together the Prep Preview....As you probably already know, the ACT used to be the premier football preview for teams from our area until the IWanna started to give them some stiff competition several years ago....It is good to see the ACT once again making a preview worthy of buying a paper....Kudos to the ACT staff and writers!

You read all the time about how print media dying because of digital media, but I think it's more that it's struggling to find its niche. Localized content that goes well in mom's scrapbook or on grandma's refrigerator--like the Sunday football preview insert--is what print outlets should be specializing in at this point, in my opinion. You can get opinion pieces about Deflategate or news on the ACC or the Panthers a million places without looking to the ACT or other local papers, but you can't say the same about community sports coverage.

I was glad to see it and the magazine format makes it more useful as a reference guide. Hope they maintain it.

The internet was the death of newspapers. I remember buying the Saturday morning Asheville Citizen times every week to see who did what on Friday night. Now I know what is happening while the game is still being played. I was glad to see the ACT do a football preview. The Iwanna used to do a great one with team pics of every team.

They aren't quite dead yet, but if they want to survive, they've got to figure out stuff to print that people can't just get off the internet. Bringing back the football preview was a good start.

That is true although Mr Pearson has all of what was in the preview on the huddle page as well. I think newspapers still do good in the smaller towns as well. Most of what they put in Asheville's is just junk!

ACT also announced today that they will have a special prep football section in every Sunday paper. I think that is another great move for them. People might can get the scores off Twitter, but in-depth coverage will be worth the price of a paper.

That might actually convince me to subscribe, especially if there's an online subscription.

Appvol that is kinda strange how they didn't cover Avery. They often but stories about them on the high school huddle. Overall I enjoy all the previews. The Hendersonville times also does a pretty good one on the Henderson County schools, Polk, Brevard and Rosman.
