Well it looks to me like the teams were drew out of a hat.I follow Max Preps ranking and for most of the time, they seem too be pretty accurate..So why take something that makes sense and turn it into a mess. Also does anybody know how the Max Preps extended ranking are calculated ?

I think margin of victory is dropped from the formula.

Midway?
St Pauls?
Beddingfield?

One of the worst ranking efforts I've seen in a long time.
Whoever designed this algorithm didn't consult anybody with at least basic knowledge of the teams.
That's the point.....this is not a "ranking"....this is a "rating".....and like someone mentioned, the "adjusted" means they do take out margin of victory....so it really does not take strength of schedule into account as much as it should....the real maxpreps rankings are not as good as the Brian Simmons or some other ratings out there, but still a much better picture of what to expect....these will keep getting updated every week or so until playoff time and like someone said, will sort themselves out.....sort of....

No.....i'm just pointing out that the state said, two years ago, after football season, but before the winter sports playoff seeding....that the adjusted maxpreps rankings specifically do not include margin of victory (while the actual maxpreps rankings do).....and they did this to discourage teams running up the score.....and I honestly do not like it....most of the better power rating algorithms or whatever you call them have something built in where there is a cutoff for margin of victory; like at some point, it doesn't matter if you beat somebody by 40 or 70, it affects your ranking the same....but it seems the way the adjusted rankings work, it doesn't matter if you beat somebody by 1, 14, 28, or 70, it affects you the same....I would take solace in considering that strength of schedule matters.....BUT how does the adjusted part know how strong your schedule is margin of victory is subtracted from the formula?....I really wish they would use the actual maxpreps rankings (that maxpreps updates at least once, sometimes 2-3 times a week).....if nothing else, those of us that care (bracketologists looking at playoff scenarios for all sports) wouldn't be held hostage waiting for them to publish the adjusted rankings every Monday (and sometimes it takes two weeks)
