Only 8 1A and 8 1AA teams from the west will make the playoffs..how will this effect where the cutoff occurs?

Why would both Mount Airy and Winston Salem Prep be on the outside looking in? Their league only gets one guaranteed playoff berth but there will be wildcards?

Also, all seeding is done by draw..Has nothing to do with maxpreps rankings. Just ask the Lady Knights..lol

I think wildcards are by Maxpreps rankings, if not that's incredibly stupid.
I've heard people pumping the Avery tires to win the 1A portion of the WHC but I'll believe that when I see it, been a long time since Avery was a real contender and I'm doubtful they have the boys in the trenches to beat a team like Mitchell.
Maxpreps will not be involved in ANY NCHSAA playoff seeding this season .
Remember only 8 seeds per class in the west. All conference champs are guaranteed a spot but their seed will be drawn out of a hat.
Wow.. just unbelievably ignorant. Why would you throw out the only equitable way to award wildcards?

I remember reading all that at the time but had just forgotten about it. You would think they would be willing to tweak this ahead of the football and baseball playoffs seeing what a clown show the basketball playoffs are about to be using this format.
It's possible the SMC champion does not even get a home game if they draw a low seed
I'd say Mount Airy will have no issue getting in. They'll win all their conference games likely other than East Surry and have a winnable non conference game against Pisgah.
