I’m pretty sure Kentucky isn’t truly in the running for Ament. Might just be a hat on the tableI hope this at least bounces them off Ament's list
Pope wants system guys, not necessarily the best playersWas Pope not interested? Seems like a good player.
Funny, I don’t think Duke feels that way.Pope wants system guys, not necessarily the best players
Total nonsense.I guess it really is all about the $$. Louisville is a bad place. Downtown is dangerous, dirty, and empty after dark. The Oaks / Derby is still a good time but the rest of that place is undesirable. Again, I guess the money is the clincher.
I’m not sure what you mean by “let him” and “give the coach room.” Do you mean shut up? Because nobody here has any real authority over Pope.We are watching a baker put together a work of art, but all the while we ask, “Are you sure that isn’t too much flour? Are you really sure that’s enough eggs?” Of course, with our last coach supreme ingredients were used but we saw a finished product that tasted more like beefstew than a cake. It is still too early to know what the cake will look like from the current baker, but I say let’s let him bake the cake. If the cake sucks, we won’t eat it. Kentucky fans, for better or worse, will not settle for less than greatness. Let’s give the coach room to show us what he can do.
Hope you’re wrong. That’s a terrifying thought.Pope wants system guys, not necessarily the best players

The Ville must have some good recruiters and lots of money.
Yes, UL is paying more in NIL than Alabama can afford to pay. They have more billionaire boosters. The limitations at Alabama in terms of NIL (and not revenue sharing as Oats tries to claim) are why Oats is leveraging the Maryland job. I don't expect it to change in any significant way either.Hometown Alabama guy this good that makes a very quick decision to UL. Does UL pay more than AL? Could have went about anywhere. Is Kelcey that good a recruiter compared to most other coaches? Somehow they don't seem to mess around much, identifies their target and gets them quickly.
The analogy was more about fans individually freaking out when we don’t know what the finished result will be. There was nothing in there about people “shutting up.” We are all impatient for the most part because we are Kentucky fans and my analogy was meant to provide perspective and calm.I’m not sure what you mean by “let him” and “give the coach room.” Do you mean shut up? I think Ament is Duke bound just waiting to be sure Flagg and Knueppel enter the draft. Arkansas is making a late push as well.I’m pretty sure Kentucky isn’t truly in the running for Ament. Might just be a hat on the table
can't believe that UL has more $ than Bama, unless all of their $ is going to footballYes, UL is paying more in NIL than Alabama can afford to pay. They have more billionaire boosters. It's about donors. NIL is completely donor-driven and Louisville has donors willing to pay to support the program. It's why you've seen a falling off at Alabama in football since NIL became a thing. I know it's difficult to believe but it's the new reality in College Athletics now.can't believe that UL has more $ than Bama, unless all of their $ is going to football
I think he's leveraging schools against one another to get the biggest payday. Everyone knows those guys are gone.I think Ament is Duke bound just waiting to be sure Flagg and Knueppel enter the draft. Arkansas is making a late push as well.
Not from my viewpoint. I lived there. There are some decent people for sure but Louisvillle’s crime rate is climbing the list of worst in the country and the growth is stagnant. The campus is nothing, and you have to get out of the city to feel halfway safe. The kid wouldn’t have selected UL solely for the school.Total nonsense.
I'm sure the money has a lot to do with it as well. Believe it also comes down to playing style and how the program plans on using him.I think he's leveraging schools against one another to get the biggest payday. Everyone knows those guys are gone.
What do you think the ratio is in the consideration of playing style/role to money? I would think it about 80/20.I'm sure the money has a lot to do with it as well. Believe it also comes down to playing style and how the program plans on using him.
My guess would be closer to 50/50. I do believe he wants to go where he will get featured in the offense. Obviously, he is leveraging schools against each other money wise. That is why I believe Arkansas has come into the picture recently. What do you think the ratio is in the consideration of playing style/role to money? I would think it about 80/20.
The ranking I saw had him as a top 5 player in the portal. Certainly not "dime a dozen".Dude played against 1 P5 school Rutgers who was awful. 0-3 from 3 that day had 10 pts. Rest of his competition has been low mid major. Not a big get for Louisville. Ky can get guys like this a dime a dozen. More than anything Pope needs upgrade at Center. Williams was serviceable at best. Imagine having a center that can dribble in half court offense and that can actually shoot. Williams could do neither and the offense was ran thru him in Popes system. 1 strong shooting forward Owen to return. Garrison and Chandler to return= top 10 team.
Thankfully others disagree with you on WooleyDude played against 1 P5 school Rutgers who was awful. 0-3 from 3 that day had 10 pts. Rest of his competition has been low mid major. Well, it's nonsense. I work in downtown Louisville. The city went through some issues during the Brionna Taylor mess, but leadership is much better now and things are on the upswing. There are great restaurants in and around the center city and NuLu, including many around the Yum Center. Whiskey Row is amazing. Violent crime is significantly down over the last year. Of course there are bad areas, as is the case in all urban municipalities. Not from my viewpoint. I lived there. There are some decent people for sure but Louisvillle’s crime rate is climbing the list of worst in the country and the growth is stagnant. The guy from New Mexico reportedly received 3 million. My guess would be Wooley got that much as well. UofL bragged about the amount of money they were going to spend NIL. Holloway and Philon returning could have played a part as well. Chucky, Fatts, and Reyne are all gone and was pretty much UofL entire backcourt, so playing time and shots are there. You have to take things like this with a huge grain of salt, but some of the rumors among Bama fans are that Louisville paid him roughly half of Bama’s total portal budget. Even if that’s slightly exaggerated, they almost certainly made a big offer in order to get him to commit without even taking all his visits.
*whispers* it wasn’tHope that was their entire budget.
