Alvaro averaged just over 29 min a game last year at RMU. He would have to realize transferring to a P5 school that his minutes per game would go down. Pope doesn't like to play anyone over 20-25 min a game anyways. Of course Avaro and Dioubate could/would split minutes at the 4.
I just don't think a guy is going to choose that over another school where he probably gets 30 minutes. We will see.

Mathematically, I’ve found that rim protection has been less important in recent years. Need to be able to generate steals, though, unless you play amazing first shot D and rebound every miss.
Do you mean across the board for everyone? Because anecdotally in recent times both UCONN champion teams had an elite rim protector, likewise this year the two best defenses (Duke and Houston) have really good to elite rim protection.

PG Lowe, Lewis, Perry
Wing Johnson, Chandler
Wing Oweh, Williams, Noah
Forward Diobate and piecemealing or small balling around all year with Williams, Noah, and Garrison in the SEC, an injury (or even just foul trouble too often) to a big would be brutal. Keep in mind Diobate is 6"7 too so we will always be a little small.
Center Garrison Moreno.

Need? A big forward.
Desire? Another sniper, and push Noah, Williams, and Chandler down the chart a tad or at least to put another bullet in the chamber and see which ones really fire for us.

In an emergency but if he is the planned backup yikes.
I want us to get Folgueiras very much but the topic is Kam Williams playing the 4........ Im not exactly sure why the backup 4 cant be small ball stretch 4 guy like Kam, he's better than Almonor who was our backup 4

I don’t question Pope very much, but if he is done at the 4 spot, I have to question that.

He must see something from Williams and Noah that makes him think he can be effective going small, if that is the case.

Only thing is Almonor was in his fourth year of college and was about 50 lbs heavier (240 vs. 190) than Williams.

I would feel better about next season with another 6’10 power forward that can shoot

What I would have a hard time understanding is if you're Pope and you don't feel confident about Folgueiras how do you let Reed Bailey go to IU - assuming, of course, you had the ability to get him over IU?

I think Dioubate will play mostly PF, but also some spot SF. We could have four different solid players on the floor at any given time at the 4: Williams, 6'8; Garrison, 6'10; Dioubate, 6'7; and if we get him, Alvaro at 6'9.

I think DO and Alvaro could absolutely coexist. I see us having three guys who can play C next year between Alvaro (small ball), Garrison, and Moreno, so there should be plenty of minutes to go around down low.

Pope is building a monster team next year.

We knew Chandler and Oweh were athletic, but Kam, Dioubate, and the freshmen guards all collectively upgrade the athleticism from last year's team. No knock on them, of course.

Add in Pierre or someone like that and again, Pope well have a monster roster. I feel like we'll have a lot more open looks from three next year.
Yeah give me Pierre and take Steen or Freeman from juco. You get a 6'4-6'5 dynamic scoring guard and the chance to add depth. Both those jucos are potential diamonds in the rough.
