We probably should keep Beamer. He isn't a great coach but I have seen worse. So who are we going to get? We seem to be where coach's come to die. What good coach would come here unless it's a has been who wants to prove he still has it one last time before he heads to retirement. So every two or three years we are back where we started.

I honestly believe his future here hinges on the Clemson game.

Win = he's fine for 1 more year
Lose = he'll be fired - buyout or not

I think he's back for one more year. He'll need to be the coaching equivalent of Houdini to do enough next year to survive beyond that. I'll say this right now, if six wins and a bowl bid are what he comes up with and that is the minimum required for his retention, then I hope he only wins five.

What happened to your lifetime contract suggestion?

I, for one, at time advocated for a 10-year contract. Just ride it out for the long haul and see what happens. That was before he became a national embarrassment.

If he is terminated this season, then the replacement will be the 4th or 5th pick at best...behind LSU, Penn St, Florida, Auburn and possibly FSU, Ark, and Ole Miss. However, I would give the keys to Shawn Elliott. I think he should have been hired last time.

If, IF, IF, he were to get the OC hire right this time around, I could foresee him being our coach for a while to come, and being successful. But, I am fearful, given his "push back on the narrative" that he "hasn't gotten 3 OC hires right", is an indication that #4 will be just as big of a failure. This will inevitably end with his termination; blowing up the whole thing, and starting from scratch. We're really in a danged if we do, danged if we don't scenario - we blow it up now or we blow it up (a year) later.

Although this would never work, it would be nice to see a 10 year incentivized contract, where you get $500,000 for a win ($0.00 for a loss), you get $500,000 for a winning season, $1,000,000 for each playoff win ($0.00 for a loss). You win it all and all of the above double the next year....

I was in agreement until your last 2 sentences.

The "push back" talk is a prime example of why I have no confidence #4 will not be any better. I think he genuinely believed all he said, not coach speak. But he's dead wrong and still carries that smugness about him when questioned on matters he thinks he's above being questioned about.

I never liked the hire from day one. Used to watch many of the press conferences early on, trying to get an idea for how he handled and explained things. He would seemingly act surprised after a loss after a "great week of practice"; they somehow always have great weeks of practice. But not really any substance there one way or the other. The one time I got somewhat optimistic was after that Missouri game in 2021. Scar had just come out the week before and run all over Florida, looking like they had figured some things out in the bye week. But then they got pushed around by Missouri in the ground game and he came across as aggravated they didn't play better in that phase of the game, and he should have been.

But as his tenure has gone on its more so the "don't question me mindset". That smugness could be seen in Satterfield and Loggains too. Perfect chance for him to mature as a coach, hire a competent OC and stay out of his way.

I was watching a podcast today but can't remember who it was. They were talking about Shane being a CEO coach because he really has no coaching skills on either side of the ball. Shane has to hire top tier assistants, and he hasn't.

When we take the field against SEC teams, do Carolina fans ever feel like we have the better coaching staff? I know I don't.

I think Beamer has another year. But I just don’t see S. Carolina getting this offense coordinator thing right. I also don’t foresee Carolina getting a HC decision right when the time comes for that. We have a new A/D though, so that’s a positive….. But we have the same BOT…….. The same BOT that made such questionable decisions that State Senators tried to overhaul the system several years back and replace them. The only time I have ever seen Democrats and Republicans agree on something. 😂

We are doing the standard "bring back a coach who is pre-determined to be fired next season"

I'm approaching another birthday. I'm about to be as old as my father was when he died. My patience is being tested.

But I could cycle back to that idea. It would be novel, which is probably the only way for us to ever distinguish ourselves beyond what we did this past Saturday.🙄

We won't get a Holtz or Spurrier, but I think we can hire an experienced OC from a P4 school or a highly successful HC at a smaller school. The 2 names that keep popping up are Bob Chesney at James Madison and Eric Morris at North Texas.

Of course, we should keep him, if they fire him, who exactly do you think would come to Carolina? U know...a good coach

Seems like with Tanner the BOT just rubber stamped whatever he wanted. Hope that continues.
