He just seems soft to me. I mean really who cares if the team gets into a scuffle before game ! Its our tival atleast they show life and show they are pissed and ready to play. Hope they get into one anyways. Stoops softness is getting on my nerves.

that's a direct result of Mitch Barnhart's terrible advice and loser mentality that he brings to the football program. Mitch is the reason UK football struggles.

You could show you are pissed and fired up by showing up and playing to win the game. Ultimately our antics were futile last year because Louisville came out on the better end of the scoreboard. Why give them any more motivation to beat us?

I Bet Petrino is telling his players to do whatever to get into the heads of UK players by taunting tslking $#!× and trying to get into some pregame activities! I know I would. This is a hated rival and being soft is going to help the team. We lose this I am off the Stoops Troops train. This is a must win period and the sad thing is I do not think we can beat UL.

I think you're reading it wrong. He has more important things to think about than a bunch of pregame stuff. I'll guarantee with a dad who was a coach and 2 older brothers he won't back down from anything.

Fight mad and lose. Play mad and lose. Showing life doesn't mean showing your ***.

Does that mean you won't post again if they lose? Because Stoops is going to be here a while. I'm as pissed off as anyone, but this isn't one of the reasons I am. Here is hoping he gets it done Saturday and I will be cheering them on.

You do know that Petrino had the exact same comments as Stoops when in front of the media today, right?

You really don't know the full story, how this has been overblown into a conspiracy theory by UL fanboy bloggers & now adopted by their media. It goes that Stoops intentionally sicked his redshirting nonplaying team members like Barker into causing a pregame fight with the intention of getting UL starters/starts thrown out of the game and/or hurt.

Hence his reaction everytime this event is brought up to diffuse the situation, to not be seen as promoting extracurricular activity.

I am not saying go get into a fight but show some life. We almost won that game last year and we really should have. We played high intensity most of that game last year with a chance to win.

what an ignorant statement. Because he doesn't want his team acting like a bunch of thugs he's soft? You kidding me? Save it for the field. Guy is fiery so get that soft crap out of here.

^ This. Shorter, athletically limited guys don't start at defensive back for a Big Ten football program if they're soft. And a head football coach can't openly condone the pregame shenanigans.

Pregame scuffles can lead to penalties, injured players and ejections. That's the way to start a game. Teddy R. said "speak softly and carry a big stick." Let your play speak for you.

I get your point, but a smart coach or player will not do or say anything that is blackboard material for the opposing team. Wait till you get on field and show them.

No one needs bulletin board material for this game. Stoops street tactics actually did get into UofL's players heads last season. In that sense, it was ugly and tasteless, but actually effective. No one wants to tangle with psychotics. Sometimes a crazy uncle is right and handy to have.

This has nothing to do with stoops. Has everything to do with Mitch being a sissy. However I think we should just ignore Louisville if they try to start anything. Half of them are just excons with nothing else to lose. Lol

Now and then what I read here is so counterintuitive it just becomes hilarious. Louisville football's group of ex cons has an APR rating which is among the best in the country, as opposed to someone complaining about their character from a team whose APR is a fat 946. Charlie Strong and Petrino graduated 94 of 97 recruits at one point. That's not a galaxy UK has seen since Clairborne. I promised myself to behave over here because the topics were worth contributing to, as were the posters. I guess I should have suspected this one would show up, having said that. We do the same at our place, lol.

LOL, love is blind.

I'm not sure any more. Nor do I care, frankly. I will say this - If my son slept with one of those distasteful creatures, I'd fire him from the family. It would be multiple degrees more bad if he stayed long enough to actually sleep.

I'm still trying to finger out how your observation came in a Stoops thread about football.

Lol. Has been reported that a Louisville player (likely Quick) told a UK player (likely Hatcher), that Petrino wanted the players to get UK to meet at the 50. UK players said, Ok then.

You're a clown. About 8 teams have had problems with UL at PJCS...the only thing in common in all those cases was UL. The only team that has had a history of doing that kind of thing that did it to UL was Miami...

Coaches have to be above that kind of thing. However IMO I'll always think he told them to mix it up a little before the game last year becasue he wanted to get their juices going, and IMO nothing really wrong with that.

Stoops tactics?? Where is your proof of this? Or is this a conspiracy theory on why your formidable title contention team (UL fans own mind) nearly lost to a bad team?

The fact that he admitted stirring all that crap up is not good enough for you?

Ok let's say this is true that your guys who are more interested in beating women than being gentlemen are just studying their asses off and making deans list.
Now is this a product of going to UNC level classes or are going to be reading a book next summer about the UL football program taking up where UNC left off? After all those rumors about the basketball team turned out to be a gold mine after all didn't they?
If history shows anything senore and that is I wouldn't be throwing conspiracy theories out their hoping something would stick. It is proven that usually those calling foul the most are the ones doing the most cheating. Recent history has shown if any program is willing to go any distance to win it is UL.

Are those 'estimated' 8 teams including Miami and Cincinnati who went out and jumped all over the mascot at midfield? I am sure Louisville inspired such tactics, lol. Cincy lost 70-7 that day and Miami got blitzed as well.

You have some excellent 4th hand information, too. That's awesome for you. Look, I actually agreed that it worked, ha ha. Here I am mentioning that your HC employed a successful strategy which he owned up to and now I have magically transformed into everything that is wrong in your world.

I kind of enjoy that, actually.

I have a hard time responding to that. lol. Between the 2 schools, the last person I can recall being hammered for beating women was your last Quarterback, Hartline. You have posed an absurdity on top of a lie, althoug it may not be your fault. Conventional Wisdom over here has some pretty unusual takes, to say the least. Is this honestly what you think?

When Charlie Strong first approached UofL players in the very first meeting, he called them undisciplined failures as humans. He made every man jack move back on campus and the study periods for UofL football were attended 100% or else they did not play the sport. 2 violations cost a scholarship. He was totally Draconian. The result of his energy was the creation of a state of the art facility devoted primarily to athletic academics.

This fact is not invented. If you somehow believe he changed any of that while he was here, I don't know what to tell you. Maybe "Good luck with that". Many of the guys who graduated, did it in 3 years, such as Bridgewater and a few others. At one time, there were a slew of guys doing master's work, playing for UofL.

Stoops was soft in the press conference and he's soft because of Mitch Barnhart. You can't make this kind of stuff up.

He owned up to it?

And this was reported by Bud Dupree on the radio, made the news and wasn't disputed by UL, Petrino or any players...all these teams pick on poor ole UL!
