Dude the Bulldogs do not deserve to get in the playoffs. The are now the team that will travel in the first round to a high seed and receive the beating that they used to give. The No Class Club could play and perform better than this current team. I only wish they could play my comets one more time this year.

3 wins your definately in. there will be 8 -- 2 win teams but only 7 sspots. So 1 2 win team won't make it. If u get 2 wins u travel to either robbinsvillle or community of davidson. If u get 3 wins hell u can play either robbinsville, comm of davidson, thomas jefferson, keistrel heights if murphy goes big 1aa, murphy if they stay small, rosman, mountain island charter, or north stokes. If u beat south stanly, albemarle, south stanly, hayesville, alleghany, and union academy. Will all have 3 wins which is why u could play any of those teams listed above if u beat south stanly which i doubt

Dude...to say that a group of high school kids do not deserve to be in the playoffs is a bit harsh. Especially a group that (from my understanding) did not get a coach until late in the beginning of the season and whom apparently isn't putting much effort into his team. And if the No Class Club could perform so much better...why the eagerness for "your" comets to play them again??

Would be the first meeting. AHS and R'ville have never played each other in FB.

Wishbone Your Comets will probably not make it very long in the Playoffs. If Albemarle closes there may not be anymore State Champs from this County. Wishing the Comets luck but Albemarle put Football on the map in this County

Wow. I was fortunate to make the game but got there in the 2nd quarter. This South team beat Union Accademy which killed us last weak. We were without the 4 guys that were kicked off, Cole, Standback, #22, and Tackle 75? In addtion Emory and #10 didnt play. We are playing with our JV's and looked damn good. I like the aggresive playcalling by Smith. If 16 had thrown a catchable pass we would have put it away with 4 mins to go. But that is football. Risk and Reward. It seems the coaches are now on the same page. It was obvious that our guys played better tonight than they have in the past couple games I have been able to see. Coach Smith was even fired up on the sideline. This team may click and go a long way. #12 is special and I heard he is a freshman. Unreal. Great job Coach Smith and his cronies. #whosnext

What does it take to want to win. It's good to have 1 win over Our County Teams. The Fans where into the game last Night. Coach Smith was showing some enthusiasm. The Players wanted to win. They should be told every week that They may not have a Team next year. The damage has been done but We do have the Playoffs. I feel like Albemarle will take some Fans with Them next week to the Playoffs

Trip is not too bad for the first round. TJCA is about 100 miles west. Past Shelby and just before Chase HS. Stop at Bridges BBQ Lodge on the way. On a Friday I-85 is busy all the way through Gaston County.

I'm not sure how strong their conference is but their conference champion beat South Davidson something like 50-7 and they beat Albemarle's opponent Thomas Jefferson 30-7. I know we have played several teams this year that are better than they are but we didn't beat any of those teams. Hopefully we can make a strong showing and surprise somebody.

Albemarle @ Thomas Jefferson Academy

So we travel to TJA for our first playoff game. All I know about them is what I read on max-preps. Seems their QB is the main threat with 980 yds passing and about 700 yds rushing. We must try and contain him. As for my dogs we really need Emery back. Understand he has a turf toe injury and has missed the last 2 games with it. Also we need for Bird to have another game like last fri night. He really lit the scoreboard up. Think our biggest problem right now is the lack of numbers and really getting tired in the 4th quarter. Don't have an answer for that problem.
As many of you know every game we play could be our last one as a school. As the community buckles up its chin straps for an all out battle with the BOE over the possible closure of AHS. This seems to paramount in every bodies mind. However I want to wish the kids well as they represent over 60 years of AHS Football and all that has went on before them. Take it to the house guys. Go Dogs

It is a public charter k-12 school with 1080 enrollment. They have very high academic scores and seem to be growing with athletics getting better. Guess anybody can go there so their athletes can come from anywhere.

After doing a little research I know Albemarle High School had a football team in 1931 and they could have had one a little earlier but 1931 was the first year I could find anything on. So that would be over 85 years of football at Albemarle. It would be a shame not to have football here anymore.

Strange but Joe didn't play football in high school but I was told he was a pretty good baseball player.

TJ has a pretty impressive record. Since their conference seems similar to the YVC top to bottom, I'll use the highly scientific "wild-*** guess" approach and predict that they are comparable to North Stanly / East Montgomery. Not expecting an AHS win, but hope the Dogs play with a lot of pride for the reasons Buddy Rich stated very well.

I hope I'm wrong on this one, but I am giving the edge to TJ. I don't know what kind of team will show up Friday. Albemarle loss to UA but beats SS who beat UA (Shut them out), so you guys guess is just as good as my own. It's great that Smith was fired up, that energy defiantly transition itself to the team and motivates them to play harder.

@spiketomandjerry4 I didn't know we lost #20, I also see that #52 is gone also which was the punter and MLB at times.

Anyway, TJA 40 ALB 10

I think #52 changed jersey numbers to # 32 because he was playing fullback since Emery has not played in the last two games.

Oh o.k.

A couple of players have changed their jersey #, I'm not sure what the deal is with that, I hope it's not an identity crisis.

I can't say enough about Caleb Bird. He has done everything that has been asked of him and more. Think he's played about every position and played it well. He had a hellav game fri night. If we had more like him we would really have something.
