The fact that UGA ran as fast as they could onto the field when ND changed out their entire punt team with the offense.

It was like they actually wanted to play the game of football and win by playing winning football instead of playing the system.

Bielema IS bush-league.

That is a good point. It's like they thought they had a limited amount of time to get their defense in place because the ref wasn't just going to stand there forever for them.

Hi Cock, have you gotten in much skiing this year at Whitefish? We're just now starting to get some decent snow down here. Discovery is just now about 70% open - which is all of it I can ski anyway. lol

We got a big storm at Thanksgiving that has held up well on the ski hill, so yeah, I've gotten in about 5 or 6 days so far. New Year's Day was great... but you had to know where to find the good snow. Overall, though, the skiing is good for this time of year. Especially when compared to the last 3 or 4.

There was an instance where we had an opportunity to run the ball in form the 1 yd line in a tempo play and we chose to sub in. It should have been a simple hurry-up to the line and QB sneak, especially with our QB. They're always comparing him to Cam. Then Beamer got ****ed. Well, stop subbing! Make them pay. That's on Beamer after the first few times he could see which way the wind was blowing. My main concern is it seems our QB isn't yet prepared to wing it like that. Call BB all the names if you want, but he knew our weaknesses.

Wish our QB had demonstrated leadership and gamesmanship a little more. HE could have/should have been more demonstrative at the line of scrimmage as Belimia was sucking out or play clock. He could have barked at the officials the foul play more loudly. he could have protested that we were getting the screw job. Teh sad part is we have better athletes than they do all except that running back and receiver. WE didn't win the game. That would have surpassed any of our protests.

Exploiting the rules to gain an advantage is bush-league. It's not about playing the game or Xs and Os (which is what it should be), it's about playing the officials. B.u.s.h. L.e.a.g.u.e.

Just look at the example of UGA last night. They could have taken their time, but they actually play the game of football, rushed in (too quickly?- it was less than 2 seconds whereas IL was taking up to 30) and then - perhaps because of the confusion/chaos - false started. That was a fair piece of coaching by Freman and even better imo by Smart but not being a Bielema.

It definitely isn't Sellers' fault - at least for not talking to the officials pre-snap. He missed a lot of passes, especially the one in the end zone, that were a result of who knows what. For that part he is to blame, but absolutely not for getting on the officials. I hate watching QBs or other players influencing officiating. It's bad enough when coaches do it, players should play the game and let their coaches handle the officials.

I want to see competitive fire. And often players being on top of details can influence official's reactions. Example on their TD/fumble, had we not reacted as if we had gotten the ball so aggressively, not sure it would have been ruled a fumble.

Sure it is. But there was the opportunity to adapt and win and we didn't. That's on the coaches. And there's one head coach.

Been here 25 years (with a short stint in HI where I first became HICock). Unfortunately, $$$ changes things. We'll never be Aspen, but we sure aren't what we used to be... and that's a little sad. Still a great town... with a weather problem (pretty crappy from Nov - Mar)

Not saying Beamer couldn't have done a better job adapting, but the point is the way Bielema coached had nothing to do with playing football. He was playing the refs.

Yes, it's pretty incredible what has happened to prices for skiing and ski towns post-covid. A weekend lift ticket at Big Sky now averages about $230 (it's sometimes hard to pin down with "dynamic" pricing), which explains why I do most of my skiing at Discovery - still about $70. Bridger is still an affordable mountain, but it gets pretty crowded on the weekends. The median home price in Gallatin County is was $900K in November, but that is _down_ a bit from where it was in the summer. I used to say that I don't know how cops and teachers live in Bozeman. Now, I can't figure out how most attorneys and engineers afford it.

Yeah, when I moved up here, you could buy a fixer-upper in Whitefish for about $80K. No one knew about it or cared about it. Those same fixer uppers (like my current house) go for $800K.

The median home price in Flathead County doubled between 2021 and 2024. Obviously wages haven't kept up. I'm fortunate I moved here when I did because I couldn't afford it now... and I probably wouldn't consider moving here. It's not really Montana anymore. There are far fewer open-minded, libertarian, boot-strap folks around anymore. Gallatin County is worse than here for sure.

And... it's my home... and better than any other place I've been.

Same thing happened in Charleston. Remember when Kiawah was actually a place you could take your family and get away? Almost impossible to get to at certain times of day now. Infrastructure in rural areas has not kept up with the exodus of folks during and post-covid.

Not only did he subbed he subbed in 2 groups which allows the defense to sub twice as well.

You mean like going to the refs before the game to make sure you could exploit the fair catch signal. Got it.

I live on the East Coast and buy the ICON pass yearly. Allows me to snowboard at Big Sky and many other resorts including Snowshoe. I normally snowboard about 10+ days so well worth it. 6+ days at Winter Park and/or Steamboat every year and then 4-6 days at Big Sky / Utah / Jackson Hole area. Fly out to Colorado on Frontier, making it an affordable trip.

That you Bret? One single play is waaaay different than coaching your guys to slowly jog onto the field during substitutions EVERY play. Thanks for coming by. I'm sure Tigernet is slow this time of year.

I was there the last week the slopes were open in March. Didn’t do any skiing, but got a lot of good hiking in.

Grew up on Johns Island. Used to be able to drive from my house to Downtown in 20 mins. Now it takes an hour.

Honestly, they should have built 526 all the way through in the ‘90s like they originally planned. Too many short sighted old Islanders thought if they blocked it, Johns Island wouldn’t grow. Half the traffic is crossing through from West Ashley to James Island. That’s in addition to the crazy level of development.

Just got an email from Discovery Ski Area near Anaconda, MT advertising their March Madness sale for 2025/26 season passes. $469 for an adult pass if I pull the trigger before March 14th. That's very tempting. Good for the rest of this season and all of next. While it's no Big Sky or JH, I think it's about the best bang for the buck in the entire Rockies. You won't any spas, high end restaurants, or art galleries at the base, and the lifts are slow, but it's a genuine western ski experience without the corporate atmosphere of most of the "destination" resorts.

Nice! Our type of place. We go hard but are not into spas, restaurants and nightlife. It's family time for us. We are good grabbing a pizza (or cooking) and hanging out together in the evening.

I would like to make it out one more time this season but my kids sporting schedule likely won't allow it to happen. Thargee is next on my list. Never been. You?

Grand Targhee is one of my favorite places to ski. Absolutely incredible views of the backside of the Tetons, tons and tons of snow (even in bad snow years), and zero crowds. It's a ski mountain that is big enough to be a world class ski resort but is still (and feels) like a mom-and-pop local ski hill. We have gone down there a couple of times for early season skiing (like, Thanksgiving) before the other resorts have gotten enough snow.

The intersection of Main Rd & Savannah Hwy is a disaster area.

He was playing Beamer and he won the game he was playing in a big way. Beamer looked like a fool pitching tantrums on the sideline.

20 years ago my wife and I used to love to go to Charleston in the Fall and Winter when it was quiet and hotels dropped their rates. Those days are long gone. Charleston has become unpleasant to be in year round due to the crowds and traffic. Prices for hotels and restaurants downtown are approaching NYC levels and the downtown area no longer feels like a city where people actually live but more like some sort of resort area. It is almost like Charleston has become "Charleston, a Disney Resort".
