I was just getting ready to post to get you to respond. Old Town was not a hit with our guys. A lot of blind tee shots, up hill approach shots. Greens were good but probably too fast for some of the slopes involved. They rolled the greens between the Friday morning session and afternoon session. A lot of winter kill. We were allowed to lift clean and place. My partner, dave Pulk, and I won our first match 2-1. We were -7 and Walter Todd sr and his partner were -5. We halved our foursome with last years US Semi finalist Rick Cloninger and Jim Grainger. I was one over in my match against Gary Robinson who was a quarterfinalist in the US Senior and #2 player in the Senior Carolinas golf rankings. I won 2 up. Bunkers were really good, great sand and great definition. I sat with someone who is pretty prominent there and his name was Hope Dewalt, maybe. I know Hope was in there somewhere. The fairways were just not very good. The Va's lost 26.5 to 21.5. The WV guys got 1 point. Steve Fox and Harold Payne played in another tournament at Mid pines or Pine Needles. If they had played we might have tied. Those two are usually good for 3 points. There are 16 regulars and 8 seniors. WV get 4 regs and 2 seniors. Va foots most of the bill. How close do you live to Kingsport? How'd you play? Your team? Thoughts on the course? I'm heading over there Thursday.
It wasn't Dunlop White who you talked with, was it? He's the chairman of their golf committee who I've been corresponding with. Supposed to have lunch with him Thursday.I was just getting ready to post to get you to respond. Old Town was not a hit with our guys. A lot of blind tee shots, up hill approach shots. That's the guy. At the dinner Friday night he gave the greatest speech when he got an award. Thanks, and good luck tomorrow. Tell him you know we appreciated the short speech. After all that playing, may day started at 6:15 , we were tired. Do you live near Kingsport? It wasn't Dunlop White who you talked with, was it? Sounds like you played well. Congrats on your performance! Hope we can tee it up some day but I'll need strokes. My 2 handicap couldn't hang with your ***.![]()

I know the name but I don't know him. Tim Jackson is a living legend in TN golf. He still contends every year in the TN Am and Open and he's got to be about 55-56 now. Played in a couple Masters. If Green beat Jackson, he can play.Been thru there a few times. Do you know of Tony Green up in Kingsport? Beat Tim Jackson last year in finals of the Tenn Senior match play. We've been good friends since the early 80's. Jackson shot 65 and lost. Tony shot 64. He and I team up when we can. Won quite a few tournaments together.
