AJ Reed has been called up to the Astros because Yuli Gurriel is on paternity leave. Gurriel is expected to only miss 3 games, so Reed may just be getting a cup of coffee. AJ has set AAA on fire this season, but let's hope the Astros give him a chance at the show.

Carlos Correa is on the DL so Marwin Gonzalez is shifting from 1st to SS in his place. Could start there while Gurriel is away on paternity leave. If it's not him this weekend it would be Tyler White in line.

Interesting news here..Yuli was re-activated on 7/1 as expected, but instead of sending AJ back down, they sent Cionel Perez back to AA after a cup of coffee. Maybe AJ might stick around for a while? http://m.astros.mlb.com/roster/transactions/2018/07
Just hope that he gets some PT and can finally take advantage of it... It is amazing that he can't translate what he does from AAA to the bigs

Two of the last three years AJ has led all of minor leagues in Hrs-rbis. So far this season he has 18/68 and was just had AAA STAR. HHe is a little better than a dime a dozen

Apparently the post went right over your head.

Lots of AAAA guys out there - too good for AAA, not good enough for MLB.

Would be nice for Reed, though, if he got an extended opportunity with the Astros(or whomever) to prove himself or not.
