Never worked out for LAA like he did for St Louis
OT: Votto broke his finger last night, will be out for a month . . . . sorry, but seems to me that is a great opportunity for Reds to start the inevitable replacement of Votto, which needs to happen yesterday.

He was terrible as an Angel, but he was an amazing hitter as a Cardinal. Two completely separate careers.
he actually had good home run numbers and decent rbi numbers for the Angels, but not for that price of course. His BA was atrocious tho in L.A. Every Cardinal fan would have love to have kept him but not for that price tag and we knew he was on the decline. He was dealing with multiple injuries that he should have sat out and got fixed but kept playing. His feet have been a big issue and I believe he has had a lot of trouble with his left elbow.
Tho never named he was probably juiced as well during that era, they all were, probably still are. One of the big wonders to me was he never struck out in Stl. His walk to strike out ratio was unbelievable. that changed drastically with the Angels.
that being said, I would love to see Stl pick him and give him a chance to retire as a Cardinal.

I disagree with the part that he was probably juicing...his steep decline is more indicative of someone not doing that stuff. Also, he never even hit 50 homers in a season...
huge Cardinal fan here myself. I just wonder, they all were, his decline seemed to be indicative that he quit juicing, the injuries that the juice helps to keep you on the field, piled up. Jack Clark went ape **** once accusing Albert. Don't remember the whole backstory there. Either way, he was never mentioned. I will role with that until proven otherwise. It was just my gut and as huge fan of the organization and him.
Everybody including the ball boys and kids down the foul lines collecting foul balls were juicing back then. Find hard to believe he didn't partake.
They took Clark off the Cardinals post game broadcasts years ago cause he was an erratic idiot...that dude has had a lot of embarrassing moments and comments in the last 10-15 years.
AP one of the best hitters I've seen in his prime. Hit for average and power. The ball he hit vs. Houston against their ace reliever (Brad Lidge) went out of the park so damn fast it was criminal. Lidge never recovered. That ball was absolutely crushed and was 60 feet above the wall when it went out.

I always think of him when I see 10-year contracts. I get it for a guy that’s early-mid 20s but even that’s a stretch. That deal was crazy.

Most Card fans I know feel he is 2 to 4 years older than his reported age.
He's definitely older than his reported age. It's one of the worst-kept secrets in sports.
I watched that game and you're correct.......that jack absolutely destroyed Brad Lidge. It made his momma cry..........I heard.
