What is the defintion of an "unprovoked call out?"
Asking seriously.

If somebody writes "Nicholson is going to eat Omoruyi alive... He'll probably dunk over him 5 times."
and after that doesn't happen, somebody decides to scold the erroneous predictor, is that wrong?
Seems like it is deserved and certainly "fair play."

Now if somebody writes "See, I told you Nicholson is terrible and you, PWB. are a fu*6ing idiot" that seems out of line.

Its the obscenity and the name-calling that should be throttled, not making fun of bad predictions or disagreeing with someone's position. As long as its civil and accurate, it seems fair game to me.
I don’t disagree PWB. What I object to is being referenced by name in posts on threads that you aren’t even participating in. That is just pot stirring to continue an argument. That is what went on before the Cappy Ban Hammer came out.

I have had more posts deleted in the last 3 months than I have in the previous 10 years. In every case it was a response to personal name calling. Yes, a fair argument is to just ignore it, but we literally have a bully torpedoing every thread whether win or lose and this board turns into misery.

Makes sense to me. I know I get named randomly pretty often and I feel compelled to respond, so I get baited and hooked. I don't have the required fortitude to ignore such things when I feel that people are misrepresenting what I said/wrote, or mocking me for things I never wrote.

I have really tried to stop doing it to others lately - I read some of my old posts (from earlier this season) and occasionally wince. A lot of the sniping back and forth probably was born out of frustration over how last season unfolded - and what most people expected to be even worse this season.

To a large degree the performance of the team this year has improved the tone and participation on the board. Its a lot more fun to discuss the reasons for the team's revival than how everything went off track. So hopefully the Wildcats keep improving, to save us from ourselves...

We could argue, I suppose, about the moderator, but all I ask for there is some consistent (defined) rules.

On a more personal note, I hope you recall that during one of those earlier threads, you said you were frustrated with the discourse and giving up (on the message board) and I encouraged you to stick around because I thought we might have a pretty good year... unfortunately, I think that discussion may have been deleted.

We must all steel ourselves and find the fortitude, for there is a disruptor among us. He will not rest until we are destroyed.

Who is PP? Interesting message history… Is someone on a timeout and using a backup alias? Turk - is this one of your fun accounts?

Well said PWB. You were right and I was wrong, this team is better than I thought it could be.

Just watched end of regulation Rutgers v. Ohio state, both coaches had timeouts yet neither used them.

I guess there will be 3 openings next year

Just watch - there will be a few people in heaven with time outs and bags of $ (like John Harbaugh). And the rest of us won’t have any.

I greatly enjoy your basketball commentary. I am grateful to not be the target of any ire.

I thought about that as well. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. NU didn’t need a play call, they just needed BOO BUIE.
Collins said it best in his post-game presser..... he saw that the situation was already exactly how he wanted it. Boo had a guy on him and the rest of the floor was spread out. If he had called a time-out, he would have just told them to do exactly that. So, he let it ride......

It was interesting watching the recap. Battle moved Chase to the other side of the court to open up the lane for Boo.

They have the team prepared

Berhan should have called one. Would not have come down to last play
Agreed.

Not sure why the guards started so low, they should have started at the 3 point point kine and crossed. Would have been too much space to cover.

No timeouts were called on the last two plays last night.
True. Can’t say I agree either. Dribbling the clock down allowed plenty of time for IU to rest and get ready. So….not like the original post when clock was an issue. But ok. I hated the way the second half played out but loved the final result.

I also thought boo and chase could beat their guy off the dribble all night. Would have liked to see them do that and bring the ball to the hole more in the second half.

I still hear Robbie Hummel saying "This is going to be a tough inbounds pass for Beran - he can't move" and then we turned it over as soon as the words reached my ears.

We’ve turned over more than one inbounds pass because our player thought he could “post up” his defender to receive the pass. Collins needs to have his guys practice a hard pick and roll to get his guys open. It will usually be the screener rolling that comes open, but they’ve got to get better here. It almost cost them.

I watched the play like 5 times. The "post up" was done with his butt. Butt back, two hands forward. No creating space with elbow keeping defender at bay.
