Great start as Swiderski beats Lachlan McNeil 4-2. I absolutely loved Casey’s aggressiveness. Even when he was winning late he kept shooting relentlessly. That’s something that has been an issue for us the past couple years. We’d get a takedown and just wrestle not to lose. I think we’re going to really enjoy watching Swiderski wrestle this year.

Damn! Ryder looked really good. MD
Smith came down from 197 and Zack moved up from 174. Zack was stronger, quicker, had better technique and was in better shape than his much older opponent. Very impressive, it would be great if he ends up better than Welsh of Penn. St. I also liked Swiderski with his aggressiveness, but only finished 1 shot. In the last period he stayed aggressive and McNeil never got close to a takedown. McNeil is a tough rider with his leg in but Swiderski freed the leg and got the escape.

I can’t really fault Swiderski for not finishing on McNeil a lot. Hes a 3 time AA for a reason and was playing very good defense. I beg he finished most if not all of those against most other opponents

Yeah I thought McNeil looked good on top but Casey handled it well.

Only 2 guys wrestled 🤷.Could they be better than last year definitely but not sure tonight proves that. Most knew how good those 2 were and will be.
I've been saying it for months. Tonight was one small piece of what will eventually be a mountain of evidence that I am right.

Some of y'all are gonna be scrambling come March when you remember that you need to delete those old posts calling this a punt year. We are better than last year
Ive only seen people say punt year in regards to the fact they can’t win it all this year. I haven’t seen a single poster down on this team in any way. Seems like everyone is extremely fired up about the team we are going to put on the mat.

I’ve said we will take a step back points wise from last year. I’m just glad we are back to saying something like 5th will be a punt year, rather than 17th. With that said, tonight was encouraging and gives me hope for a team trophy

If you say we can't win it all this year, then you are down on this team. We can win a national title this year. Everyone inside the program believes this. Would I bet even money on it? No way. Is there a good enough chance of it happening that we should throw every punch. Absolutely. Penn State is just as susceptible to bad luck, injuries, upsets, complacency, culture rot, locker room issues, etc. as anyone else.

I wasn't trying to call anyone out. I actually appreciate how clear-eyed our fans are on this board. I just think we have made up a lot more ground than most people truly grasp.

If a lot of your argument centers around Penn State could get unlucky or hurt, that kind of proves my point. I don't think even the biggest homers could predict how quickly DT has turned this thing around. I truly believe OSU is winning one really soon.

This PSU team is unreal. They have 9 weights where you would be shocked if they didn't at least make the semis. They have 9 weights where you can make a compelling case, their guy can win it all.

We could wrestle an amazing tournament and still not come close to their point total. I don't think it is fair to say if you are realistic about the situation this team faces you are down on them. I promise you, I'm not remotely down on this team even though I don't think they have a chance in hell at winning it all.

The back and forth about what this team can do this year is EXACTLY why I love the fact we have Natty duals this year. This event will give us a ton of clarity on where we're at, what we need to improve and work on and build upon as the season progresses. Our tournament ranking will def improve after this event. Take it to the bank.

*WARNING*

How can you not win it all if we have 10 Champs!? Get your head on right!

OK, I am with ya. Oklahoma State wins all ten weights. BUT...

In every case a Duke wrestler is the runner up. The problem is Oklahoma State won all 50 matches by decision. And Duke was the #33 seed at every weight, also winning 50 matches, but all of their wins were by pinfall.

Final score: Duke 260, Oklahoma State 200. The good news is that you now hold the record for champs and highest second place points.

If you need to ban me at this point, I understand.
