It’s not just bickering for no reason. There’s a very, very small minority of people I can think of who took a lot of very unnecessary and inappropriate bullets when it came to defending CCC, who runs the team we all root for. While I know a board is for observations and opinions, both positive and negative, it is unfortunate to see the continued inability of some to not have the decency to admit it was (at least, mostly) wrong to trash him and his defenders, and to stop doing it now (either directly or indirectly) while we are winning BIG games. I think we should all think hard before doing it again, and move on and enjoy this team while we can. Go Cats!
And you should think hard before you disparage the athletic ability of the players anymore. I remember the days when NU teams couldn’t even think about playing man defense and they would get badly outrebounded every night because they weren’t athletic enough to do either. Not the case with this team.
I think we can still debate whether we are as athletic as other teams currently. Good defense is a lot about positioning and help, which seems much better. But we certainly have improved over the Collins years to the point where we can play man effectively, to your point.

This is a fun team to watch. They leave it all on the floor. They are doing much better than I expected. However, they are not supremely athletic when compared to most B1G teams. They have been coached very well this year, after the staff was slow to veer away from players and a system that previously weren’t getting the job done. The players bought in and they are getting the job done. Let’s hope it continues.
Our starting guards are as athletic as any duo in the conference. I won’t argue that we’re one of the most athletic teams in the conference but when you have a guard duo as athletic as ours and then a supporting cast that’s above average athletically it’s hard to say that Collins is handcuffed because of athleticism like Dakota has been saying forever.
I’m sure the stakes of these battles are important to the egos of the participants. And they are probably entertaining to a few of the schoolyard spectators chanting “fight, fight, fight.” I’m also sure that to a lot of us they’re boring as hell.

I have been consistent in my position that CCC was not the reason we sucked the last few years. I took a lot of heat for that. I also pointed out his faults like the infamous turtle ball he went into with every lead.
