No frills but cheap. Only risk is if there is a delay/cancellation. They usually have only one flight daily. So any problems completely devastate travel plans.

Flew into Punta Gorda. It’s cheap, but crew was nice. No free food and a little extra $$$ per 40 lbs of checked luggage. As far as carryon, if you can fit it under the seat—it’s free. You get what you pay for as far as amenities—but otherwise no complaints.

I will say, Allegiant seems to fly their jets like Navy pilots. They always seem to bank sharpest on approach w full thrusters. No biggie from inside the cabin. It’s noticeable. Fly cheap. Enjoy.

I flew into Punta Gorda also with them. Was looking out the window at a river emptying into the bay, and then they threw the Airbus into hard right bank and full flaps on the landing.
Still better and safer than a 15 hour trip on I-75.

Just flew out of Punta Gorda yesterday (Friday the 13th) and had no problems whatsoever. Never experienced any "hard banking" ever, but I've had flight training in small planes and maybe I just don't notice it.

Everything in life is a gamble. To figure out if this is worth it here is the math:

If ($value of your life)*(probability of dying on Allegiant - probability of dying on alternate carrier) is less than (price of alternate carrier - price of Allegiant) then you’re good to go.

Yes I am an actuary.
How much you pulling down per year? It’s cat paw, you know.
My daughter was thinking of majoring in Actuary in college.

I would rather fly Allegiant with a pilot who just had 3 gin & tonics that were topped off with a shot of tequila than I would drive any stretch of I-26, I-95, I-75 or I-4 between Daytona and Tampa at any given hour of the day.

I-4 absolutely sucks. Took a detour cause I wanted to go over the A1A @ New Smyrna Beach and drive it up to St. Augustine.
Orlando was a road construction nightmare to go through.
The state road 301 from Tampa to Jacksonville is a nice trip though. The area around Ocala reminds you a bit of KY with the rolling hills and horse farms.

I-4 is a white knuckle ride. I can't imagine having to drive it every day.

Delta laid off 2 of my sisters so they suck ***.
[laughing]. Sorry to hear.

My cousin works for Southwest Airlines as a fight attendant. She's been with the company for 17 years. Works 9 days per month. Previously, she worked 21 years for Pan Am. I saw her June 24th at Tampa airport, largely due to area thunderstorms delay, which delayed both our flights. Her crew was flying up to Buffalo that night and back to Orlando, where she's based. She loves her job.

I'm a Southwest and United frequent flyer. Looking forward to another free AUS-ORL round-trip next January. :sunglasses:

I flew into Orlando on June 16 via Southwest and rode a Greyhound to Lakeland June 17. I-4 sucks even on a Sunday. Flew out of Tampa June 24. Thunderstorms held up my our flight for 1.5 hours. Had to take a $43 taxi home because the doggone Austin-Cap Metro airport bus service only runs until 10:30 pm. That sucked.

Man, I'm just happy to be able to take a 2.5 hr plane trip vs a 21 hr car trip.
Tell me about it. I drove 8.5 hours to Pangburn, AR on June 30. Got drunk. Slept in a chair because my buddy's loaded hunting rifles were in the bed. No way my drunk *** was gonna mess with those. Oh, and his water line also broke. Had to pee out in the yard. Left the next morning with a hangover. Met up with @Bert Higginbotha and @ymmot31 later that afternoon in KY. Stayed overnight on Nolin Lake at cuz's place. Left out next morning with another GD hangover and made my way to SE KY.

When driving cross-country, life is tough. Tough!

Last time we were on I-4 was on a Friday night for a football game from Deland to Orlando and back. My wife says that's the record for the number of times I've used the M word and says that nothing else is close, even though it's not a long drive.

Sunrail was supposed to relieve some of that congestion. I'm a huge fan of public transport, but Central Florida is usually an exception.

Dude!

And to make matters worse, I returned back to the same place evening of July 7. Damn water was still broke and his son, who lives with him and his old lady, is a trained plumber. I had to pee out in the yard again. At 4:45 am that morning. Had to poop at a rest stop off I-30 near Malvern, AR later that morning. Oh, and I've got some history with that rest stop from 19 years ago. At least it's been since renovated.

Life is tough when we travel. Especially at middle-age. Good grief!

Next trip come November, I'm flying AUS to ATL, renting a car at Hartsfield, and driving up to SE KY. $700 for rental car and round-trip airfare. Cheapest RT combo I could find into Knoxville costs $920. I'll drive 4.5 hours each way out of Atlanta to save $200. Going in and out of Knoxville is always a major pain in the *** for me.

That would suck after a night of drinking. I usually pee a gallon or two. Even worse that you had to drive around at 4 AM with the dam turtle poking its head out until you could find a rest stop.

I know most on the Paddock probably have their own private planes.

But I'm a poor *** slob.

We're going to be heading up to New England/New York City later this year, and was looking to fly Allegiant out of Knoxville.

Well, looks like Allegiant pilots maybe going on strike, and there was a recent news story about safety concerns with the airline.

Was wondering if any of you veteran flyers have had any dealings with Allegiant.

I flew from Lexington to Orlando last year. We had a 3 hour delay on both flights.

We drove down this year.

Flew Delta out of VPS yesterday. LOL...you couldn’t pay me to fly Allegiant. Jesus Christ, the line to check in for the 1 flight yesterday morning...[sick]

Lord only knows if they flew out on time or not.

Prayers sent. IMO. YMMV. ATKOT.

I've never flown out of Destin, but in this day and age, most people check in online and just have to go through security to your gate.

Allegiant will do great until one of their inexpensive , inexperienced pilots makes a major mistake and crashes a plane and kills 200+ people that wanted to save $75.

Ponce is nice. I used to work with a guy who owned a couple of condos in Lighthouse Village. He quit work, and he and his wife moved down there and got into property management.

I think it is a good option if it is available. I know they get bad press but if a pilot and crew think it is safe to fly I can go with that. I have flown worse in the Caribbean. I once flew from the Virgin Islands to St Martin and a passenger wanted to bring live chickens on the little single engine plane. The pilot got in fight with her. Then we took off. I made it.

I understand what you're saying, but that could happen to any airline.

I'm in Ponce Inlet right now.

My family vacations here every year. We are staying next door to the North Turn.

I've been coming here for 20 years but I'd still love to hear some restaurant suggestions.
