Special teams did a pretty good job
.
Only gave up a blocked punt, botched a field goal, and a semi-long kick return. And also got no hang time on our punts.
special teams looked a lot better. Yes two mess ups, but punt still went nearly thirty yards. A true freshman pubter just took a tad bit to long to kick it. Sure was some nerves there. And fg holder just dropped ball. Again player playing in first game. Punt team did not give up a single return yard and kick off team didn't allow a drive to start outside 25. Kick return had some nice returns that set up ok field position. Nice inside suprise recovery also.
For week one, it wasn't too bad of special teams play.
I said they had a pretty good game over all. And they did. Most kickoffs, we had them short of the 25. Not perfect but improved. And that's what the op asked about.I see the optimism. But I still wouldn't say they had a good game. They cost us 10 points.
Well again, the op was about showing improvement. They did. When special teams cost you 10 pts they didn't have a pretty good game.
They had facets of the game they did well. I understand though. It's been so bad previously that it seemed that they had a pretty good game.
Lost by 9. Those 10 pts were pretty big in hindsight. Wasn't the main reason we lost but still a factor.

--Huge time of possession difference
--Scoring ZERO points in the second half
Someone please point out any year 4 improvements....?
