No when I tripped and fell on her chest (just happened to be the girl I like) and basically I said this is so soft and accidently groped it while trying to get up. It was like a pillow. She knew it was an accident so she forgave me.
So she was in good hands with you?

A few comments. First, congratulations! Making All State is very difficult, and is very competitive. My oldest made it his senior year, and it probably helped him a bit as far as his Music School scholarship.

Second, "All State" not "Allstate". The latter is an insurance company.

Finally, "elected" is not accurate. It isn't like the Hall of Fame. I think the proper term is "made".

Good luck, I hope your rehearsals and performance go great!

Your parents must love you to bribe the judges like that. Milli Vanilli won best new artist too.

Actually my parents didnt want me to go because they thought it was a waste of time but it has always been a dream of mine. Im tired of everyone ruining my one moment to shine. Actually I only got 27th overall which is barely into all state. the nail you need to stop being a troll I can tell that you have no idea what you're talking about.

Where in the constitution does it require me to know anything to comment on your accomplishment?

There is nothing in the constitution about commenting like this but commenting on something you know nothing about makes you look like a complete idiot.

Oh come on, this deserved a few Band jokes..

In all honesty, my biggest regret from my childhood is not sticking with the drums.

In my experience, all most band geeks can do is play a part that’s on a written score and follow a director. While this is a commendable, necessary, and useful skill, they are mostly just organized machines exercising little to no real personal creativity. Without that piece of paper, they are lost. They never really experience becoming one with the instrument creating their own music. As an artist, they are paint by numbers. They are slaves to real musicians who tell them what to play and how to play it. I hope you’re not one of these guys OP.

A lot of Jazz musicians, ones maybe bordering on Jazz-fusion, Prog, Funk, absolutely loathe classical music for that reason. It's a valid point. You're just playing someone else's music via written sheets. Technically it may be difficult, but there's no creativity to it. It's interesting to hear a Jazz musicians take on this subject. It seems Classical and Jazz musicians really aren't fond of each other.

Actually I decide on my own dynamics and will at times slow down or speed up to set myself apart. No I dont use performance enhancing drugs I dont even see how they could help me play music better anyways.

Son, drop the rusty trombone and score you a bag of reefer and take a few hits of LSD.

How does somebody who doesn't respect tempo make All State? Surely you're kidding.

Well All State nowadays is based on effect and telling a story with the music. Make it not just the best you can but try and make it unique thats what my director at Bourbon County said (it should be pretty obvious who it is). Make it not only enjoyable to the listener but make you stand out.

Plus on the music it said Tempo ad libitum which means I can change the tempo whenever I want. Before you go trying to bring me down try and get your facts in order first.

Keep the band gig, but put the sheet music away for a while and learn to improvise. Find an open area with good natural reverb, pull out your trumpet and make it cry and scream. Just start with variations on a simple blues scale. You ever tried that?

Please describe in exact detail the proper way you place your lips on the horn and exactly what the role of the tongue is. I have always been curious about how an accomplished trumpet player would view these things and I appreciate your response in advance as will many others. Thanks.
