Great game! I want wish the Colonels congratulations on the win. Nothing to hang your heads about Essex. Hope all the colonel fans I've chatted with on here have a safe trip back to Altavista. Uvacavs1 have a safe drive back to Tappahannock.

Congratulations to Altavista on their back to back state championships. Essex Trojans...Thanks for another great year of Football. All you seniors...Thanks for the memories.

On a personal note...I think Essex should have passed the ball more. It was working pretty good. All 3 TD's were from passing the ball.

Essex Trojans 2015 Team... I think they will be in the mix for a 4th run in a row at the championship. Losing some major players but plenty in the tank for next season. Put in the off season work fella's

All I'm waiting on now is to see if the rumor mill is true about some coaching changes going on in the NND.

I agree

I thought Trojans should have thrown more. No one has had success running on altavista this year. Actually I thought both teams ran up middle too much.Too many playmakers on field to be running up middle.

Sterling Hammond is #5. Last I've heard, he is deciding between VA Tech, East Carolina and at one point Louisville.

I don't know how many tackles he had today, but if I had to guess, I'd say all the tackles. It seemed that almost every time a Colonel got in the open, Hammond was there.

I agree HR6, Altavista went out of their normal game plan the last two weeks for some reason and tried to run up the middle way too much. Not sure what the game plan was, but it seemed to me they we're playing to not lose instead of playing to win. Just my observation as a fan. I said it once and I will say it again, I'm a big fan of the entire coaching staff at Altavista, they get paid to do a job and they get it done. I'm not complaining at ALL, because we did win. Game could have easily been 28-7 at half time. I'm not taking away from Essex because they did what they had to do to keep themselves in the game, Great job Trojans, you are a great opponent. Good luck in the future to you all.

I don't think that is taking anything away from Essex, anyone who watched the game knows that Altavista forced at least 2, I think maybe 3 fumbles inside the Essex 35-40 and got ZERO points out of it. Game could have easily been over by halftime if they punch in 1 or 2 of those TO's, but I also think that speaks highly of the Trojan defense. They did a very good job shutting the Colonels O down for most of that game.....but Juan Thornhill, my lord. They'll be talking about that kid in the grocery stores and local watering holes around Altavista 40-50 years from now. Damn shame however that 3 of the greatest athletes this area has seen in the last 15 years all decided to play for those damn Wahoos

Re: I agree

Dont understand the call on the 2 point conversion of running the ball up the middle.I realize hindsight is 20 20 but to me getting the qb out on the end with the option to run or pass would have been much better..That said essex had a very good game plan and could have very easily won the game if only one break had gone their way..........
