Am I stupid to worry that...

...Neb is a potential trap game? Big game against IU on Sunday, but Nebby isn't a gimme.

You are, of course, not stupid to think this way. NU is not good enough to assume a win against anyone in the Big Ten and Nebraska has great incentive as it knows it can win this game tomorrow. Should be a good a good game and a lot of fun. It would take quite a bit of the luster off of Sunday's game if NU Wildcats do not prevail.

Nobody in the conference is a gimme this year. Even Rutgers is much improved. The conference has been much, much stronger at the top in the past than it is this year, but there also seem to be fewer bad teams than usual. In past years there usually were 2-3 teams (including unfortunately Northwestern at times) whom you could count on for a victory or two. Not so much this year.

Nothing is a gimmie this year, and they should know that better than us.

This is a nice team, but it's not SO good that they should be looking ahead. (Pull out the cliches."They're your friends.") One game at a time.

I don't expect an Iowa-like disaster and letdown (Yes, I think the Hawks quit against NU). I imagine it's pretty easy to keep the team level-headed if things get crazy at a practice. All CC needs to do is show quick hits of the Rutgers, OSU and Minnesota games. None of them were exactly textbooks on basketball by NU.

Personally, I'm assuming there will be one bust in the remaining 11 games. Somewhere they will just get plain beat by either Illinois, Nebraska or Michigan. But I think their resume so far can survive it with 11 B10 wins - especially if one is against Maryland or Purdue.

Jules hit it right on the head here.

Yep, I'm worried. Continuing to hope that this year is different in that regard, but Nebby has plenty enough talent to beat us if we don't play good basketball. I do think our team defense has raised the level of our ceiling on days when we don't have it offensively (e.g. OSU and Rutgers), but I far prefer when we play well on both sides of the ball. A repeat of Iowa would not draw any complaints from me.

I do believe we will have a bad game sometime in the next month, and lose to a lower tier BT game! Likely, this will occur on the road! I see us winning tonight handily! Home court is a huge advantage late in the season. These are emotional 18-22 year old kids. By the way,Iowa seems to have really collapsed with the injury to their stair player! Let's stay healthy guys!

Nebraska is fading. They played their best games early in the season. Morrow (I think that's his name) is out and Watson has been slumping. We're getting them at home at just the right time. We all know nothing is ever a sure thing with NU basketball (heck, NU sports), but this is a game we really should win handily.

Also, Virginia, it's pretty obvious you didn't see the Collins discussion with the press yesterday. If you have time, I think that will help alleviate some of your concern - especially Collins' reference to himself as "Scrooge."

CC also makes a good point that last year at this time they were 15-5.
