People are probably sick of my negativity, but I’m not entirely convinced we’ll lose this game, not yet at least. Indiana hasn’t exactly looked good themselves.

But we’ll see.

I’ve been dreading it a bit. A must win game that’s a no-win game. If Kentucky loses, there’s at least the finality of knowing the program has to and will go in a different direction, even if it’s another embarrassing black eye game.

And a win? Indiana is a crummy program that serves as a warning of what can happen to Kentucky. There’s no glory in beating IU.

I don't remember such an important game for a coach in December.
Perhaps a must win.

I am with you, losing to Indiana is not an option to me and I feel like it’s gonna happen today. I’m sick over this year honestly.

I was so prepared for a dominate year and it went from getting the number one player next year and Collins to now we have NIL issues and nobody wants to play for this staff. They can’t coach a lick, recruit at all, overpay for role players, apparently can’t even determine who to recruit for their own system that they abandoned already. Our season has imploded and possibly ended Pope’s career fast. I’m so bummed out.
Especially considering we would have beaten them 15 years in a row and let them off the hook because Calipari didn’t want his young teams playing them.

We would have curb stomped them so many times. So giving them a win in Rupp today just sends a signal that Indiana is gonna own Kentucky because we don’t have that history today “you’re 1-16 in the last 17 buddy”.

It’s awful. I said when Calipari did that hell no play the game and curb stomped Knights legacy and that trash program.

I am to the point of just sitting and watching our games now with zero emotion. Doesn’t matter if we are up 10 or down 10. And that is due to having zero expectations for this team. I’ve already written them off with a 17-14 or 16-15 type season. Knowing our JMI situation this likely will not get better until that is fixed as we will end up with middling talent that can make more here than elsewhere.

Also this is how apathy sets in. And that’s what Barnhart wants it’s what this administration wants. Don’t give it. They either win to elite levels or they all must be replaced. Sound that alarm over and over. Mitch Barnhart isn’t going to make me feel good over beating a team here and there and possibly making a tournament. He’s gonna get the hell outa that seat. And Mark can kiss his *** all the way to Morehead and coach there.

Some fans have been clutching pearls over the booing from the last couple games but it gives me hope that we still have plenty of fans livid about the direction of our program. If you go to the games and we’re losing, boo as loudly as you can. Show your displeasure. Give Mitch Barnhart hell like Dallas did Nico Harrison.

I was booing the bell out of them. I don’t care. This is Kentucky even if you win if you don’t play well it’s not acceptable. I’ll accept the win and be happy about it but if it’s not all hands on deck and we aren’t playing to full potential then it’s not good enough. Period. So I sure as hell am not going to accept this product. It’s been bad enough as of now that they all need to be replaced.

And if we do win this game and I hear the first “everyone should be happy now these guys are working hard” speeches out of Mark I’ll want him out even more. None of this is acceptable. None of it.

Win to the standard of Kentucky basketball or you fail. It’s your job so do it and don’t sell me on accepting anything less.

I’ll be watching and hopeful but obviously concerned. If we go down 10+ to Indiana the sentiment of BBN will go from bad to ugly. The bad thing is all the pressure is on UK and IU should be fairly loose

I want them to win at elite levels but it’s obvious no matter how we do that Barnhart won’t go anywhere and now the JMI deal will prevent us from signing any top recruit for the next 15 years. I’m totally apathetic.

Let’s wait and demand what we always have. JMI wants to grow, they want more flagship programs. They can’t do that if they ruin UK basketball. They’ll never get another contract from anyone significant.

Barnhart has to go and he is going to

new administration will likely go hard to make adjustments to this deal. They can get around it by saying the landscape changed so we’re changing with it.

Let’s see what happens and hold them all accountable. If nothing changes, stop going to games and give no money. Collective action is the only way to fix this kind of thing whether people understand it or not but we’re bad at that. Look at politics. We keep voting like one man can change the system, he can’t. Only collective action can do that. And common Americans without political science backgrounds don’t get that. We need to start teaching it in high schools.

You must want to remain in college basketball irrelevance. We are going to miss on every big time prospect next year so brace yourself. If pope stays here you’ll be begging for cals last 3 years back

Dreading? No. Disinterested? Absolutely. This game is useless. Won’t matter if we win, but I’ll be dead before they stop airing the footage annually if we lose. I’m in my mid-fourties and Indiana was already a footnote even by the time I cared about basketball. I wish this game had never been brought back. I was thrilled not to have it on the calendar when it got canceled. When we make the return trip everyone will realize why we stopped this series. Indiana fans don’t know how to behave.

At this point the vast majority of the people who care about this series have died, and the rest have a foot in the grave.

Eh, it’s a rivalry and one of the best historically. It makes no sense to stop playing rivalries. Who does that? Calipari. Because he’s got other motives. Cals young teams were going to have a very hard time beating Creans teams as Crean is a much better floor coach and has teams that would out physical Cals teams early. That’s the real reason it wasn’t played. Cal wanted to end the Tennessee Memphis game too, because once Pearl was rolling he didn’t want to deal with it. Calipari has done this before. The excuse in Memphis then was “Calipari hates the SEC and doesn’t want to give Tennessee a platform” as he tried to paint a picture that Memphis is just so far above them and the SEC. It was purely about seeing losses coming and he didn’t want it. If you listen to the national media when they spoke to the series ending they told you what it was. Calipari is afraid of it. Gary explained it perfectly and he’s very close to Calipari’s camp.

Ending the series had nothing to do with the fans that was an excuse. Now are their fans trashy yes, they’re the Auburn // UT of the BIG. University seen awful around the country. Pure trash. But few people even consider ending series over that. Alabama doesn’t end their rival games because of trashy fans. This is purely excuses, we should have continued it like all rivalries continue and beat their *** for 15 years. Thanks Calipari for being you.

I totally agree with this. Lose tonight, and it’s officially over. Actually, need to not only win tonight, but to dominate, in my opinion.

Don't get carried away, a win would be sufficient for me. If it's a blowout, I don't think we will like it. This team has done little, to instill any confidence, that they will show up and even play hard, let alone blow any one out. But it would be damn nice, if they pull out a win over Indiana, would sure help pick things up.

I never ever want to lose, especially to indianer. Uneasy about because of that and the way this team is playing. Almost seems like a must win for Pope. Crazy but seems that's where this thing is.

Scared of IU SMH. I think we kick the crap out of them tonight
IU pounded PSU by 40. MSU just beat PSU by 4. But sure, we’ll kick the crap out of them. I don’t gamble. But if I did, I’d take IU with 5.5 all day. Don’t know what Vegas is thinking in this one. IU can score against real teams. We can’t. This is another loss for the Cats. And another embarrassing one at that.

I just hope they play hard with a refuse to lose attitude. No such thing as a must win with a team missing three starters
Can we please stop with the missing three starters narrative? JQ has never been a starter. He was signed and paid knowing he wouldn’t be available until at least January. This is just such a weak statement. It’s fine to talk about Lowe and Mo, granted Mo didn’t exactly look like a difference maker when healthy.

Neither program is any position, really, for this game to have any juice or appeal or to be a game worth dreading.

Back in the day it felt like this game had huge implications, was a referendum on the status of each program, and was the center of national attention (at least in terms of sports). I hated losing to IU more than any other team and enjoyed beating them more than any other team.

But the stakes always seemed sky high, as much as stakes can be sky high for a regular season game in December.

Now it sorta feels like an Indiana/Kentucky football game from the 90s.
