Exactly, so go to the source, or a closer source, than amazon. Why would you buy an under armour shirt on amazon when you can go straight to under armour? Because you pay an up front premium so you feel obligated to.

I purchased a whole box of beefy T's from amazon last year. They were sized wrong from the factory. Some had different length sleeves. Two of em were fn Disney work shirts or something. Bitched at amazon, per usual, and per usual, SEND IT BACK FREE OF CHARGE AND WE'LL SEND YOU MORE!!!. Not. Went to Hanes.com where they were having a ridiculous sale and got geniune beefs sized right and in any color I wanted.

They run a pretty sketchy business based on memberships, impulse buys, and lazy *** consumers....and customer service!!!! Which is actually pretty nonexistent. They jkst have a return policy looser than Walmart and let's not even talk about their free products for reviews nonsense. Such a sketchy place.

As soon as everybody under the sun have free shipping, they took a hit. That was the main thing they had going. Now the entire internet retail will operate like amazon once that Shippass catches on.

Have y'all tried to cancel your amazon? That's a hoot, too. Like dealing with TWC.

This is laughable. "Waaaaaaaaaaaahhhh, I didn't get the right $3 tshirts this one time!". Boo freaking hoo. bbdk is right - you SUCK at Amazon. You also clearly don't understand the difference between sold by Amazon and the marketplace, sold by whomever. If it's not Prime, it could be sketchy, and only a loser poor doesn't sort by Prime Eligible.

If Amazon was 'sketchy', and didn't actually offer any value, they wouldn't be growing prime memberships 50% a year, gross merchandise 30%, and basically kicking the *** of every brick and mortar store in the US.

Ordering food items from Amazon is still pretty underrated and overlooked. Protein bars, health snacks, Good beef jerky.. all can be had for a lot cheaper than a grocery store.. and actually, probably can't be found at a normal chain.

OT: Ordering groceries online in general actually. $5 extra to save an hour of my time, while rarely overspending on something I see on a shelf? I'm amazed they haven't jacked up the cost of grocery pickup/delivery. I think you can get most everything on Amazon, and won't even have the fee.

Once you shop online, you'll never go back. At most, I make last minute runs to the local butcher, fish monger, bagel/coffee shop, etc..

Sticking with the theme of recent purchases:

9 piece bocce ball set
Pair of Raybans
100 count pack of plastic 9 ounce wine cups
Electric wine operner
Pair of shoes

And roughly 1 million toys, treats, wipes, tools, etc etc etc, that my wife bought for our dog.

I have a friend who drop ships using Amazon prime. I always thought he was full of **** but turns out he makes a killing doing it. He turned me on to a few items that he claimed could make money. I picked a baby carrier and a certain type of sleeping bag. I listed them for a profit and sold 4 baby carriers and 2 sleeping bags with little effort and instantly made 88 dollars profit. Pretty wild.

No amazon is an ancient website that sucks ***. I have never bought anything not Prime....and that's the problem. Smaller stores in the marketplace probably have other quality control, but you do mot have the shipping luxury of the stupid prime service you're paying for which limits the products, etc.

They're growing because people are stupid. Everybody will be on Shippass eventually, getting their 2 day shipments from whoever they wish. What does Amazon do then?

Does Amazon own Shippass? Dennis you know this stuff. What happens to the e-world when you can get free 2 day from basically any online retailer you wish?

Perhaps you shouldn't shop online since you are pretty incompetent at it.

The stuff that isn't Prime eligible is where you can get some crappy stuff. Just stay off Amazon, you aren't intelligent enough to use it apparently.

Amazon still is, in the consumer's mind, the one stop shop. When you need a lamp, are you gonna go to Lamps.com, Homedepot.com or Amazon? Their SKU number is absurd, probably 20x what Home Depot has. Wouldn't surprise me if Amazon had 100x or even 200x times the product offering that HD has..

The big box stores are making improvements to challenge Amazon in this field. You actually can find better prices elsewhere if you look, and shipping times are constantly improving. But it's tough to beat the sheer number of product offerings that Amazon has. Why go to 8 different box stores for shopping, with 8 different logins/accounts/ship times/tracking numbers.. when you can do it all in one place?

By the time I pay for shipping elsewhere, what I buy is normally cheaper on Amazon and I get it quicker. Plus with my Amazon Rewards card, it makes even more sense to buy it from Amazon. Only time it makes sense to buy it form elsewhere is if the price is significantly cheaper to make up for the cost of shipping and the loss of reward points. And even then often I can find it cheaper on Amazon by buying it from a different seller.

We are still a no-tax state with Amazon, although thats likely to end soon- but currently it saves us 8% on everything we buy, plus just about everything we purchase is discounted on Amazon compared to the brick and mortar store price. Kind of a no brainer.

Plus I can tell my echo what I want and it arrives 2 days later which is enough for me.

Y'all are just wayyyy behind the retail game, tbh.

Where are these places that charge shipping? Nobody does that anymore. Get real pumped with that ********.

Wal mart is getting more of my business because their website is way better and their marketplace is stupid huge, too. Plus, better descriptions and info, minus a lot of the bs marketing reviews.

Got a couple fishing rods today because amazon didn't have what I wanted in prime.

Amazon is fine for the average consumer, but some of us demand more from our online retailers. Thankfully, a lot of places are gaining ground on amazon.

Boutique places still charge shipping. And many places have a minimum to achieve free shipping. Further, Amazon is going to get it to you faster than any place that isn't based/warehoused within 5 hours from your location. Only one retailer off the top of my head gets packages to me faster: Jackthreads. And they are based in Brooklyn, 2.5 ours from me.

Walmart's marketplace, while probably 2nd, is still a huge step back from Amazon. Walmart also offers nothing in the way of "decent" to "upper class" goods. What you get on Walmart.com is really just an extension of the store.

Walmart has almost 100,000 results for "lamps".. Amazon has.. ready? 4.5 million results for "lamps". Does 100,000 cover the bases? Sure.. but when you start dialing in, say a green colored, low energy floor lamp.. you're gonna go to Amazon. That's how they get you.

A lot of the box stores still charge shipping if you don't spend an X amount of money. Target still charges shipping if under $25. Best Buy is $35 or more for free shipping, but Best Buy should really be called Worst Buy, would be much more accurate. Just two examples.

But it's obvious you have no clue what you are talking about with Amazon.

Walmart.com is superior? I rarely ever find anything I am looking for on there, and if I do, it's cheaper on Amazon. What a ******* joke. [roll]

I missed the drone thing here in the paddock. But everyone's on the same page with that right? It was a publicity stunt to get people to Amazon.com around the holidays. Not that drones shipping goods won't be here some day, but that segment on 60 minutes was pure publicity and PR. There was nothing groundbreaking going on in their "drone department" at the time of that video.

Tuft and needle California King mattress.
Came rolled up in a box.
Almost got yelchin'd when I cut open the outer lining with my sweet *** pocket knife and the mattress immediately expanded like one of those dinosaur eggs in the bathtub and pinned me against the wall.

Dude you basically just told Sean there's no such thing as Santa Claus and/or the Easter Bunny. Congrats on crushing a young man's dream.

Sorry man hahahaha. I work in retail (Funny to hear Mash tell me I'm behind the times, but I'll let it slide), and when that 60-minutes special aired the entire place had a good chuckle.

These days it seems there is always a box on my front porch, either coming or going. Last thing was Tempur-Pedic doggie bed for our rescue puppy that got run over by a car.

I've no doubt whatsoever that a cottage-industry of thieves is forming right now just stealing boxes off people's porches.

When amazon sent me a poorly crafted and slightly used garden spade you know who was there for me? That's right. Dropped the **** at UPS, walked in Wal mart and scored a quality Ames spade that's not available on Amazon.

Not flat. The flat one is sold by Ames, manufactured by Union. I'm a well studied consumer.

Y'all keep settling for less.

Lol, Union is all over Amazon, so apparently you aren't. Only about 200 models (of all types) to choose from, though.

I know. Who you think wrote that scathing review, dipshit.

I'm a man for the people and I'm sick and tired of amazon taking advantage of the people. Period.

Ha, man you're weird.

Please post link(s) to Walmart and your other preferred online vendors so I can read those reviews too, thanks.

I find Amazon is rarely cheapest for anything so I cancelled Prime a couple years ago. Rarely streamed anything as well.

In regards to food, I've found that it's best to order bulk items. Treat it like a BJ's or Sam's Club. I've gotten boxes of Quest bars, Kind bars, snacks and jerky for great prices. No, buying one-offs like a single box of $2.99 cheerios probably isn't a good idea.. at least not yet.

Man, I have to imagine Amazon is working on a grocery model of some sort. Chains are popping up all over, food is expanding, food restrictions (gluten-free) continue to drive innovation and product offerings into new areas, and half of what you see in a grocery store now was probably driven by the health craze in recent decades.. Lot of money to be made getting a head start in the grocery delivery business. Why choose from 4 types of apples, when you can choose from 700 types of apples, delivered to your door, just as fresh..

They offer same day grocery service, Mr. Retail. It's been in the news for years now. My cousin says everybody uses it in NYC.

Personally, I can't imagine not going to the store to see all the fine hunnies in yoga pants, and also perusing the ice cream aisle.

You think I'm gonna order blue bell from amzon and risk tainted cream because of some hopped up loser on a bike who probably can't keep the cream at its ideal temp of 28.5 degrees??? FOH!!! What a stupid idea. Keep that crap in NYC. Weirdos.

Having spent the past 35 years working with some of the largest retailers and wholesalers in North America, I can tell that Mashburned knows what he's talking about. Not sure what he does for a living, but he's in synch with industry trends, what brick and mortar retailers are concerned about, what adjustments they are making-especially playing catch up with the pure on-line e-commerce retailers.

You should listen to him.
