I don't think Amazon wants to play in discount (Walmart, Kroger, etc...) yet so they bought the high-margin grocer. They haven't had much luck marketing Prime to the poors anyway so they are being very smart here. Online grocery will have expensive logistics so they probably don't want to race to the bottom with Walmart.

Interesting move. I love buying from Amazon but can't see myself buying perishable goods from them. I like to select my own meat and produce which isn't part of the Amazon model. Amazon also has real problem with counterfeit products. I can deal with fake Chinese made Tide or Shampoo but I sure as heck don't want counterfeit food products.

All that being said Kroger's stock has dropped 30% in the past two days based on monagment guidance for increased competition and food deflation. I think that it is a buying opportunity.

Most groceries have semi-online now. Order online, they pack it up and all you have to do is pick it up at the store. Other locals will deliver. Not sure what amazon will bring to WF but should be interesting

I love going to farmer's markets and the butcher. I'll just get the rest of the stuff from Amazon, because I hate going to the grocery store.

^ We recently had a free trial for this as Meijer near my home participates.

Phenomenal. The shopper is in constant contact with you about the trip...they text you when they get to the store, will text you pictures of items you might have questions about / allow you to pivot on the spot if you decide you don't want something, telling you exactly when they pay and are heading to your house, etc.

You tip the shopper at the end after delivery. They allow you to provide detailed feedback if they f'd something up but after about 6 trips so far, has not occurred for us.

Some people like shopping, I'd rather not. I understand the idea of wanting to pull your own meat or items like that in which you would rather trust your own eyes, but again, you can ask the shopper to text you pictures of those kinds of items before they buy them, or get it separately if you must.

Highly recommend if there are any stores participating near you to give it a try. **** is absolutely lit.

Im a poor single man 'Gubs. I gots time, but I got no time for texting grocery assistants. Plus, I love perusing the ice cream aisle, and stuff. Will the grocery getter text me pics of hot milf *** in the produce section? Doubtful.

Bruh you can peruse the ice cream on your phone. No awkwardness of feeling other people staring at you wondering whytf you've been looking at pints for 15 minutes.

All of my Shipt shippers have been female except for one so far. Likely no pics of hot strange but they might send you a pic of their own *** if you tip nice.

And maybe that's another good point. These chicks bring the groceries to your house for you man. That's forced interaction. Instead of staring at a hot milf in the aisle, you're talking to her thanking her for bringing these awesome, perfectly picked groceries in and damn you know what shot in the dark here but how about dinner sometime?

Prices still aren't competitive with what one can get in person. Why I don't even consider online grocery shopping.

You might as well just go yourself if you constantly have to text directions to someone.

Plus I'm sure it's a lot more than the $5 it costs to pull up to Kroger and have them load up your Click List order.

It's not literally constant contact. I just meant that if you want to, you could theoretically have them send you pictures of most of the items they're getting for you. They will only text you expecting a reply about items you specifically ask them to or if they are out of a specific product you ordered and they're seeing if a replacement will be ok.

My word, get a grip. Step into the future, boys. I know you're scared....but try.

Loves me my weekly one-mile hikes to the nearest H.E.B. Carry it all back on foot in a 1960s-era real Swiss Army backpack. Awesome barbacoa samples. Old gal there loves me. Hand-pick my fruit and veggies. Heavy, HEAVY, Hispanic influence at this particular store. Park my cart at the end of every aisle and shop like some demented loon. Barilla pasta prices OWN Kroger's back east.

Yeah that still sounds stupid when Click List is available for $5. Plus if they're out of something they give me a bigger size or better brand for the same price.

I am not scared to step foot inside my grocery store. Went today around 6pm for burger supplies. Took 15 minutes. Saw tons of yoga pants. It was great. Was eating burgers within an hour. Found a great deal on chips, too. Stopped at the cigar store afterward. Nice little trip.

It's so revolutionary you don't have to use a 3rd party company to do it, the grocery store itself will do your shopping. That's been my point the whole time.
