Thanks OP!!

A couple of months ago, this Shell Mart near my home began selling 9mm, and a few other calibers,....at $45 for a box of 50. Since I hadn't been able to locate any on any consistent basis, I'll go and fill up, and buy a box or two a week, but the link you provided has BP offering 200 rounds for $69.99. Going to order some right now, thanks again.

Well, hopefully someone got some. 40 and 45 are still available, but they're not priced that great.

Bud's usually has 9mm available in Lex...handful of other calibers too. I think it's about $30 a box, with a purchase limit.

I just haven't seen anything close to what BP had, but I know for a fact BP has an awful inventory system and website, so who knows how long that 9mm was available.

I'm still tinkering with the idea of getting an AK for a couple reasons. 1, that cheap *** russian ammo is almost down to .30 cents per round right now. Would be nice to pick up some cases of rifle food for $250 or so eventually.

If any new 9mm owner just got a gun and needs defensive ammo, this could be a good deal. The Ranger T is a proven defensive round. Pretty much the only defensive rounds you'll find right now are Federal HST and Speer Gold Dot priced around or well above $1 a round.

disclaimer: I've never bought anything from this site, but I have seen their deals posted online over the years.

I have done business with both of these places who do have Federal HST in stock 124 and 147 looks like....

Wish they could get a couple more manufacturers to get in the game but I imagine the government won't make that easy right now.

Isn't it a material shortage and covid issues that have slowed down manufacturing? Would the government really stop somebody from trying to start an ammo company? I imagine there are regulations, but can they really make the red tape so thick it can't happen?

I thought the issue was people hoarding ammo. Look what happened with toilet paper last year. It eventually bounced back when people stopped buying it and limitations were put in place. There's limitations with ammo but people are still buying it up. If there is an issue with materials then that's a different problem.

With the gun control nuts out in full force I just figure they would make it hard for any new gun/ammo manufacturers to start up. I believe Remington's ammo production slowed way down after they were sold. I think they were one of the top ammo producers. Then throw in the record number of new gun owners and I guess that is the perfect storm for an ammo shortage.

I remember ammo being hard to find when Obama won his first term, so I keep a supply (dont want to be SOL when hunting season comes around).

This is all about increased demand along with hoarding. You can find ammo or reloading supplies anywhere. I read yesterday that there were 1.3 million firearms sold in the US in May alone. The increased sales are being driven by first time gun owners too, who need ammo.

Look, I can’t definitely answer that because I have never even seen a Bucc-ee’s. So, as far as I know, Bucc-ee’s sells the hell out of ammo. Whole 5gallon Bucc-ee Buccets full of ammo. That’s what I think.
I read the above as “Saigon Buccees”. Damn they err where’s

I've got an AR10 that I can shoot 7.62 from.

Been ordering parts to build my own AR15 over the last few months. Still need a stock, optics, and furniture. Hoping to have it working by the 4th of July.

Who was the guy paying over .50 per round for .22
DAMN.
Demand is absolutely crazy right now.....Wonder how long that will last.
Seems like forever.
Also, just found some .223 at Sportsmans Guide. Wasn't cheap, but wasn't stupid expensive either.
How much?
Woke up and bought an AK this morning. One of the Serbian Zastava’s that are flooding into the country.
For real? how much? My girlfriends brother just bought an AK, I was gonna get one but got a AR instead. Got it in March of last year, what a **** show that was. Just got to look at it for months.

If you want to build an AR on a budget, you may want to check out the kits at Palmetto State Armory. It's decent quality and their prices are hard to beat. At least they used to be.

The kits come with a completed upper and all the parts needed to build the lower except for a stripped lower receiver (the lower receiver is the part that requires an FFL). They'll sell you a stripped lower receiver as well.

It's easy building the lower. There are many YouTube videos that show you every step. You'll just need a few basic tools.

Edit: The PSA kits also require a rear sight that is not included.

1,061. Some website preppergunshop.com had them. I rolled over in bed, checked the time on my phone, checked r/gundeals, and bought it. Was a pretty good day.

I wonder if it's a lot cheaper like building a PC from scratch over a pre-built and getting better overall parts? If so I might look into doing that in the future.

My first was a PSA kit build. It worked fine, but I ended up replacing the furniture, so that increased the total amount paid. The barrel was nothing special, but it's fairly accurate and should last my lifetime. I could have bought a kit from PSA with better furniture in the first place, but didn't know what I wanted. I also eventually changed out the bolt carrier group with a tool craft nickle boron model.

My second was built from misc mil-spec parts from various sources. Works fine.

For my third, I wanted high end parts (chrome lined barrel, etc.). I started looking at buying each part separately, but found a Daniel Defense on sale at a great price and said F it. I paid a little more than if I'd bought separately, but it was less hassle.

I'm always buying different legos and changing **** up on these things. It's fun.

You ever sell your old parts or do you keep them in case of an emergency and need to replace something?

Pre-Rona, you could slap together a PSA lower with their EPT trigger (polished mil-spec with a pretty nice and crisp 5-6ish pound pull) and Magpul furniture with one of their "blemished" uppers and come in with a nice rifle (or pistol) for under $400 ($149 for the complete lower, and $219 for the barreled upper was my best score). I have several PSA builds and two of them have over 2k rounds of steel case Wolf/Tulammo through them without a hiccup.

Prices are up now, obviously, but the Magpul complete lower with the EPT is up there now as a daily deal for $219. It makes a nice starter platform for anything else you might want to slap on it.

I built a couple of "because I had parts left over" rifles with Bear Creek Arsenal uppers with the side charging handle and those have been really solid rifles. I work with someone who is a gunsmith and he swears by the BCA uppers, despite all the crap they get on forums, etc. for their questionable quality. Most of that is from before the current ownership, but it still stains them. Accurate and well made, but YMMV. As an AK guy, I really like the side charger option on an AR (especially one with an optic, because a rear charging handle with a longer scope is a major PITA), but that's also a YMMV.

I'm too lazy to sell anything anymore. I just unsuccessfully try to remember where I put it. LOL.
